My parents suggested that I change the course to another course with a lower cut-off mark so I could be offered admission there. But I was so passionate about studying medicine that I didn't want anything less. So I opted to try again the next year.
The following year 2011, I wrote the exams again and this time, I was offered admission into Biochemistry instead of the Medicine I wanted. I wanted to decline the admission but I didn't want to stay idle at home for one year waiting for the next JAMB. So, I accepted the admission and commenced my undergraduate study in Biochemistry at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
All through my 4-year program in Biochemistry, I kept my dreams of studying Medicine alive and promised myself that I must get there no matter how long. So I decided to put more energy into personal development and hard work.
Since I had already started studying Biochemistry, I didn’t want to quit halfway. Rather, I kept my eyes on the goal without distractions. About 4 years later, I successfully graduated from Biochemistry with my Bachelor of Science in the bag.

This time, I was more equipped and ready to enroll in my dream course. So soon after I graduated from Biochemistry, I quickly registered for the JAMB and PUTME exams again and this time, I scored so high that my name appeared top of the merit admission list into Medicine and Surgery.
It was a new beginning for me having fulfilled my dreams. It was also a challenging thought of embarking on another 6 years of undergraduate study. But my determination far outweighed my challenges. So I commenced the journey into the noble profession.
The journey was fulfilling, yet not with challenges. I lost my sponsor along the line and experienced financial difficulties but God came through for me. There were also series of ASUU strikes and a COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. But in all, we came out victorious.
Today I am fulfilled to have taken this bold step and for not giving up on my dreams. I have come to understand that in whatever we do in this life, the passion remains the key. The self-development journey is not an easy one. Sometimes, it's not always a smooth path. But with focus, determination, grace, and hard work, success is sure.
On Monday 20th of February 2023, I will be officially inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria as a Medical Doctor. I dreamt of this day and patiently waited for it. Today I am so happy that the day is finally here.
I am fulfilled to be where I wanted to be. To put smiles on the faces of those suffering from ailments. To improve the lives of others and to passionately contribute my best to the global healthcare system.
To everyone out there who is experiencing some challenges trying to achieve their goals, I just want to encourage you to never give up on your dreams. Keep the hopes alive and work hard towards it, someday soon, you will rejoice over your success.
