🍄 My Latest Walk Surprise: A Funky Fungi Find! 🌲

Hey everyone!!
I started taking my morning walks through the tall trees and green bushes near our house..
For me, it is like a mini nature adventure every time I go out and explore!!

Usually, my eyes are drawn to pretty wild flowers or interesting leaves,, but today, I was totally surprised by something new and unexpected!!

Drumroll, please... 😁 I found a mushroom!! 🍄

It might not sound like a big deal, but I've never seen one quite like this growing on my usual route..
It was stuck right onto a piece of old, dark wood,, a fallen tree,, on a big, rotting branch..

Meet the Mystery Mushroom!! 🍄

This little guy looked like a tiny, pale shelf or maybe a piece of an ear sticking out from the wood.. 😁

Let's check it's color:
It was mostly a creamy white or light tan color..
Not your bright red or brown mushroom!!
so, no worries..

Shape:
It was shaped like a half-circle or a tiny fan,, and it was flat against the wood..

Then the texture/pattern:
If you look closely at the pictures, you can see it has these wavy lines or rings on its surface, almost like the rings on a tree, but they were different shades of the pale color..
It makes it look really neat, like a little piece of art!!

I had to ask my official nature expert (my husband 😁) about it..
He told me that this type of fungus is one of the kinds that loves to grow on old, rotting wood or trees..

It makes total sense!
The fungus is basically using the old wood as its dinner plate..
It helps to break down the dead stuff and recycle it back into the forest soil..
So, while the log might look like it's just decaying, it's actually part of a super important clean-up crew in the woods,, and this mushroom is one of the main workers!!

It's amazing how nature always has something new to show us,, even in places we walk every day..
It goes to show you should always keep your eyes open,, you never know what little forest treasures you might find!!
