Despite a relatively slow start to spring this year, a few brave mushrooms have shown themselves in the forests around me over the last few days. Dryad's saddles, lorchels, and even a few clusters of golden oysters have started to pop up in the low-lying wetland areas, scattered amongst the wildflowers and budding shrubs of the understory. They are a welcome sight, but I know that there are still many more to come. Hopefully I will come across some morels soon enough!
