Fungi Friday. Mushrooms of the national park los Quetzales. Costa Rica (ENG/SPA)

Hi community, I have not written here for a long time, but I also had several weeks of not going out to look for mushrooms in the field. But at last I have managed to return to the forest and walk along the trails of Los Quetzales National Park and look for some good images of mushrooms.

At this time the rains are almost over and they are giving way to summer, so the amount of mushrooms is less and less. However, in the higher areas there is still a lot of humidity and it is possible to find some surprises on the trail.

The first one I want to show you is Amanita hallingiana, named after the great American scientist and mushroom expert Roy Halling.

_MG_3245.jpg

It is a little known species and the collected samples have only been found in this area of Costa Rica.

Another of the findings of the day was this beautiful purple mushroom in an immature stage, I do not know the species but I suspect that it could be a Russula, which when opened to show its beautiful umbrella shape. This is a solitary individual growing directly on the ground in the middle of the leaf litter

Going a little further up the mountain and a few meters from the trail, I could see a small red mushroom growing on a trunk and surrounded by a beautiful dark green moss. Possibly it is a species of Leccinum sp.

_MG_3265.jpg

Finally I share the images of some beautiful Boletales, they look a lot like the species of Aureoboletus auriporus, but the lower part of the niece is not yellow but rather red, so it must be a different species that is not registered in my mushroom guides.

Well it has been a day of good finds and I am happy to be able to share them with you again.
