Hello fungi lovers, again another week contributing my latest find, in one of my recent outings in search of mushrooms.
The finding of this occasion is a gymnopilus penetrans having a bitter mushroom as a common name, it is usually born in the spring and autumn seasons, its color ranges from yellow to dark orange, almost reaching ocher tones in some areas.
It is a mushroom of an orange color, its hat is flattened and its edges are irregular. It has a high but curved foot with a lighter color than the hat, it usually grows in small groups and very well adhered between the decomposing wood.
This group of mushrooms I found emerging in a decomposing trunk, it was a small group of about five mushrooms together, I looked on the ground to also get some shots of them between the leaves and and the ground but apparently they only grow between the wood already that there were no traces of them outside of that piece of wood.
It is not an edible mushroom since it has a rather bitter taste and the smell it gives off is mealy, according to the information I looked for it is a toxic mushroom and ingesting it has purgative consequences.
It is a very beautiful mushroom, I like the irregular shape of the edges of the hat, its variety of shades and its curved foot, which helps it stay upright even when the place where it is born is in an uncomfortable position.
