Greatness Behind a Diagnosis

I start my post by mentioning one of the greatest geniuses of all time, famous for his theory of relativity and winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. An example of wisdom, creativity, innovation and genius that curiously had a condition within the spectrum autistic, like other great geniuses in history. The Film director Tim Burton, creator of "Beetlejuice", "Corpse Bride", "Edward Scissorhands" among others also has that condition. Many times genius is behind someone with a diagnosis, who at the beginning of the journey presents with big difficulties and in the end those difficulties are made in strengths.

My little flower has a diagnosis of Mild Autism, which becomes evident when, even when she is 8 years old, she cannot speak, cannot identify colors or forget some things if she does not follow a pattern. She is a very sweet, affectionate girl, she seeks to help in her own way, she is obedient, playful, hungry and beautiful.

Every day I feel blessed to have her in my life, she has taught me to be a better mom and a better person. Each advance in her learning such as: buttoning herself, going to the bathroom alone, saying the numbers from 1 to 40, identifying the letters of the alphabet; They represent a huge reward for me for the hard work behind each achievement.

It's not easy being a mom, much less being a blue mom. I once read a very interesting article that pointed out that the stress of a blue mom equates to the chronic stress experienced by soldiers of war.

Here is a quote: "... Marsha R. This study shows that when we become blue moms we gain incomparable strength to fight for our babies and we become more supportive of other moms.

Comienzo mi post mencionando a uno de los mayores genios de todos los tiempos, famoso por su teoría de la relatividad y ganador del premio Nobel de física en 1921. Un ejemplo de sabiduría, creatividad, innovación y genialidad que curiosamente tenía una condición dentro del espectro autista, al igual que otros grandes genios de la historia.

El director de cine Tim Burton creador de películas como “Beetlejuice”, "El Cadáver de la Novia", "El hombre Manos de Tijera" entre otras también tiene esa condición. Isaac Newton autor de la gravedad, el compositor Ludwig Van Beethoven, el millonario creador de Microsoft Bill Gates, el compositor Mozart, también forman parte de la lista de personajes famosos con autismo.

Muchas veces la genialidad está detras de alguien con un diagnóstico, que al comenzar el camino se presentan con grandes dificultades y al final esas dificultades se convierten en fortalezas.

Mi pequeña flor tiene un diagnóstico de Autismo Leve, que se hace evidente cuando, aún teniendo 8 años de edad, no puede hablar, no identifica colores o se le olvidan algunas cosas si no sigue un patrón. Ella es una niña muy dulce, cariñosa, busca ayudar a su manera, es obediente, juguetona, comelona y hermosa.

Todos los días me siento bendecida por tenerla en mi vida, me ha enseñado a ser mejor mamá y mejor persona. Cada avance en su aprendizaje como: abrocharse los botones sola, ir al baño sola, decir los números del 1 al 40, identificar las letras del abecedario; representan una recompensa muy gande para mi por el trabajo duro que hay detrás de cada logro.

No es nada fácil ser mamá y mucho menos ser mamá azul. Una vez leí un artículo muy interesante que señalaba que el estrés de una mamá azul equivale al estrés crónico que sufren los soldados de guerra.

A continuación coloco cita textual: "...Marsha R. Mailick la Vicerrectora de Investigación y Educación para Graduados de la Universidad de Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison), Investigó sobre el estrés que soportan las madres con hijos autistas. Encuentran que las madres de adolescentes y adultos con autismo experimentan un estrés crónico comparable al de los soldados de combate y están en lucha constante contra la fatiga y las interrupciones en el trabajo. Estas madres también dedican mucho más tiempo al cuidado que las madres sin discapacidades".

Este estudio demuestra que al momento de convertirnos en mamá azules obtenemos una fuerza incomparable para luchar por nuestros bebés y nos volvemos más solidarias con otras mamás.

En ese sentido, doy gracias por el regalo de la vida, por mi florecita y por la oportunidad de ser más grande cada día junto a ella.
