Doing a Mother's Duty in Preparation for the School Opening: A Shopping for Kids' School Stuff

in Motherhood โ€ข 2 years ago

Here in the Philippines, students' vacation is almost done. (It's students' vacation only because some teachers don't have ๐Ÿคฃ.) The opening of the school year 2023-2024 is fast approaching and to the parents out there, we only have a couple of days to buy and prepare our kids for school.

One of the struggles we are going to face is that the prices of school supplies doubled or tripled compared to last year. I experienced it as we had our school supplies shopping yesterday. Stay with me for a while as I will share our shopping for my kids' school stuff which I considered one of my duties as a mother.

To the New Store, We Go

IMG20230817182130.jpg

We brought the Kids to the City nearest to our town to have school stuff shopping. I already told them weeks ago that we will have a shopping before the school opening together with them so that they can choose what they like. As usual, they kept on asking almost every day when that would be, and the awaited day came. I brought them to the newest mall in Bogo City, the J & L Shopping Center. This was our first time in this store, and we are all excited to see what is inside.

When we came to the store, Daddy decided to stay outside to watch the multi-cab. We had things we bought a while ago inside it, and he was afraid some bad guys would come inside and steal them. Aside from that, we mothers are good at shopping than our husbands ๐Ÿ˜‚. Will you agree with me?

On the Ground Floor

So, I left Janneah also to Daddy and brought Jewel with me inside the store. The time we entered, Jewel got so very excited and immediately run to where the school supplies were to see what things she could have for school. She is going to be in Grade 3 this year ๐Ÿ˜.

IMG20230817171104.jpg

The first ones we looked for were the notebooks, but all left there were big notebooks and not for the elementary level, specifically for Grades 3 and Kindergarten. I think we're too late for the notebooks. They are already out of stock. In the same area, we saw the plastic portfolio and picked two in different colors, pink and purple. Purple is Jewel's favorite color while pink is Janneah's.

IMG20230817171129.jpg

Next on the other side of the school supplies area, we saw water glues and pick two of its colors pink and green since there was no purple available. I have to pick different colors so that they would easily know which of them is theirs.

IMG20230817172622.jpg

Last, in this area is Janneah's pencil case of course was looking for pink. Jewel had her old pencil case already and it is in good condition.

Oops, this is not a school thing ๐Ÿคฃ.

I tried not to look to another thing but I can't resist the womanness inside me hahaha..excuse for the term.

IMG20230817173120.jpg

We then proceed to the section that was so very colorful to the eyes. I was looking for a flowerpot to put plants on it and place in our toilet. This was the only thing that I bought in addition to their school supplies.

IMG20230817173345.jpg

We needed the help of the sales lady to find what we were looking for. At last, I decided what to choose and there it was ๐Ÿคฃ. I put a snake plant on it.

Second Floor

Next were the school shoes and bag on the second floor. Jewel keeps on going before me because she was excited to explore the new store and that she will be the one to choose what to buy.

IMG20230817174359.jpg

We look for the school shoes and there it was. Gladly they are 10% off that day, it is already a big save.

IMG20230817174100.jpg

Jewel immediately saw where the school shoes are and joyfully gaze her eyes on the different shoes being displayed. She also saw a bag for her little sister and put it in our shopping basket.

IMG20230817174111.jpg

We need Janneah's presence in buying her school shoes so that she could have the perfect size for her. So, I went down and got her from Daddy outside the store. With a big smile on her face, I felt how happy she was. I know I can't buy all she wants but with all my best, as a mother, as parents, we will provide all their needs no matter the cost.

A Mother on Duty

Since Janneah was too young to choose what was good for her, I need to guide her all the way. This time, on what's fit for her.

IMG20230817180929.jpg

After we had chosen her school shoes and a few pairs of socks, we head to the school uniform and tried some blouses on her. My baby has grown up and will be officially enrolled in kindergarten. Do you feel that feeling every time you'd realize that your kids have grown up so fast?

Had chosen two blouses for Janneah and the last were the hots in the second picture above. As I look at the shopping basket, I realized we had to go to the counter at that moment..haha. And I paid 2,333.70 Php ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ.

I wasn't able to buy something for myself, but it was really fine. As a mother, buying things for your kids is worth more than buying things for your own. That feeling of mission accomplished ๐Ÿ˜ complete my person as a mother and that is more than enough!

That is all for this blog. Thank you for the time spent with me. Until next time, with love mommyjane ๐Ÿ˜˜.

Sort: ย

As usual, right? The busyness of parents to complete the initial needs of starting school.

It was the moment that all the children had been waiting for, they were very excited for school and they were even more excited when they participated in shopping for their own school needs.

Have a great moment

Thank you @justbabybee. Yes that's true.

I can feel their excitement every day. Every now and then they will get their new stuff and rearrange it in their bag.. hahaha. The next morning the little one woke up early and asked me if it's already school time on that day ๐Ÿ˜.

Ohoo back to school time, that's the time where the kids was always excited. With new uniform, shoes and notebooks and pencil, that's whats making them excited talaga ee. I remember my days, sa una lang talaga laginf excited, very organized and mga gamit, after ilang weeks lang, back to normal na ulit, the messy inside of bag and notebooks, lol.

Hahaha..totoo. We've been there, super excited at the start then at the middle of the school year exhausted na agad ๐Ÿ˜‚. Wala nang pakialam sa mga gamit sa school.

I can already imagine myself doing this since my child will start going to school soon. I can really relate to the feeling when you don't really buy anything for yourself but you still feel happy because you bought things for your kids. A mother's love is incomparable. ๐Ÿ’œ

P.S. Bogo City has really progressed a lot since the last time I was there. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mother's love, unahun gyud ang anak unya nlang ta if naay subra. Ang problema kay wala nay subra..hehehe.

Yes Bogo City has lots of big stores already.

Basta para sa anak, usahay bahala wala nay para atoa. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Wow,naka attendance check na gyud d ai ma'am...It is true we don't mind ourself as mother even if we don't buy something for ourself the important is we always look the best for our kids. I could completely relate to this

Such a heartfelt read!.Your love and dedication in preparing your children for school are truly admirable. Allowing them to be part of the shopping process and witnessing their excitement is a wonderful approach. Dealing with the rising costs of school supplies must be tough, but your determination to provide for your kids is commendable. Your final sentence beautifully captures the essence of motherhood. A wonderful piece, thank you for sharing! ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ’

what a blessing to be able to live each stage in our children's lives, and starting classes is very exciting for them because they have new everything, notebooks, pencils, they are excited to choose their supplies, to have a new backpack, in fact, stages that we should enjoy to the fullest as parents.
