The pandemic had messed up a lot of things - people, travels, work, and health amongst other things. But for us, it's our connection to nature. We're one of the lucky ones who have quick access to nature since we're just a few minutes away to beaches and forests that, sadly, we only had access to after the lockdown. That's why we're so grateful that we can finally go back there when we can.
As I've mentioned in my intro post, we used to visit the Pamulaklakin Forest Trail in SBFZ almost every weekend before the lockdown started. Our connection to nature is very important, especially for my kids. How would they protect it if they're not exposed to it? More than their academic achievements, it's crucial that they understand their role in protecting mother nature.
Good thing we've been having weekly playdates with my old friend, who was kind enough to join us on our trip. We've been trying to plan a different activity for our kids once a week for them to develop other skills than what they're learning from school. They're all still learning through modules and online classes, so through their playdates they can learn how to interact with kids their age. It's been going great and I'm thinking of making this blog a series and share new activities we do so that other mothers can have ideas, too.
Going back to our adventure, the kids loved playing in the water. They're more adventurous now compared to our first trip there. They were both scared of walking on their own before, always so cautious on what they step on, and made sure I am near them all the time. But now, they don't even wait for me! They climb up and down the steps and rocks on the water, and run down hills without needing my help. They're growing up so fast! They're starting to have confidence and courage to test their capabilities and limits and yet I still have mini-heart attacks when they do that. I guess it's also a test for me to trust them with their instincts.
One of things we do while in the forest is to look for different kids of insects. This makes me practice my photography skills, too. Ate Nia, my eldest, experienced being bitten by a leech during our first few visits, which was a scary experience for her, but it was harmful. It just fell off of her leg after a few seconds of sucking. Maybe it was full right away. 😅
Thank you for not pinching me! 🤣
We just basically let the kids play and test their boundaries while watching them get comfortable with the surroundings. I'm so happy to see them laugh, enjoy playing in the water, and just be in nature. Since it's summer time, we would definitely have more adventures here or maybe next time, at the beach!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. Where are you planning to go this summer? Let me know in the comments down below. 😁 Until our next adventure!
