In a way, I am thankful that he sees the reality of our situation. That way, I won't have to convince him to do good in school coz that's his ticket out of poverty.
It shows that he knows how much effort his parents are putting into. It also shows how well you raise him. I was raise in the same way. I saw how my parents work hard and in return, I tried to do good at school. At the end of the day, this letter shows how well he appreciated your parenting.
