London's Gem: Exploring Greenwich Park

One of my favourite parks in London

Today is sunny outside and there are no better days than sunny days to go and visit Greenwich Park in London.

I have told you a little bit about it in a couple other post where I have shown you the Cutty Sark and the Greenwich Market.

But I had to show you the park in a separate post, why? Because maybe this is the reason you will visit the area even without know about the other 2 places. So had to highlight them separately.

Remember to appreciate all your surroundings on your way to the park and get ready for some up hill walking if you really want to appreciate the best views.

The Greenwich University
The Greenwich University

In the meanwhile, you can walk through the Greenwich University and enjoy the area. As you can see, many people do, from tourists, to Londoners to students from the University.

The Thames view from down here it is very pretty and enjoyable but believe when I tell you that it is so worth it to actually go to Greenwich Park and see the view from the top.

And that's where we are heading right now. I am about to give you small example of what you have waiting for you.

Spring and Summer time, the area get quite busy, there are the street food, the picnics, drinks in the park but there are not a lot of place to dispose of rubbish. So if you can, go prepared to bring your rubbish with you and dispose of it somewhere else.

So the place is clean and look pleasant for everyone. Because in all honesty this is not a good view to look at. And you don't want to sit around rubbish while you are trying to enjoy the sunny day, do you?

Now, the star of the visit.

Greenwich Park, is the main place to visit when in the area and this is what I am here to share with you.

Other than simple enjoying your time in the Park, there are also a couple of things you can see there, like the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory and  the Peter Harrison Planetarium.

Here you can see one of the entrances for the Park.

This is what I am talking about when I say that Londoners Love Greenwich Park.

I do believe that there are some tourists in there just chilling, because they get to the park and see everyone there, so they join in.

But this is what People do in London, when the Sun is out we look for a grassy place and we just sit there enjoying it.

This is the place I have suggested for you to have your street food, that you just got from Greenwich Market. Grab it there and come eat it in here.

Nor this is the "tourists section" and this is the way to get you where you got to see in the Greenwich Park.

As I said earlier, get ready to go up the hill. The inclination is not the easiest but it is also not a long distance. You can do it and you will want to see the view from the top. We are almost there.

When you got to the top of the hill, the Greenwich Park top, this is the amazing view that you have waiting for you. And I have tried my best to capture all it's beauty but to see it with your own eyes, I can guarantee that it is way prettier.

You can see the Greenwich university in the bottom, included in the Park, the Thames and you can see the city in the background. The building agglomerate you see there is Canary Warf, one of the financial districts in London.

I always love to see all the people just enjoying the peace and quite and living the moments with some friends or family.

These are the great things about London.

Get your cameras ready, because you will obviously will want to create some memories there and will want to show this place to all your friends and family.

A mandatory selfie is required! And how can you say no to taking a selfie with such beautiful view in the background right?

The more you look to the city line the more beautiful places and details around London you will be able to see and I would advise you to just take it all in and take time to experience that view for a while.

Some of the things to do in this area, you will have to pay, but the Park and this view it is absolutely for free and worth it. So even if you don't have the budget, the time or the interest to visit any of the places I referred earlier, I would say that Greenwich Park is a must visit when in London.

Specially on the Spring and Summer season. This is your reminder that the area during cold and rainy days is not as alive. So keep that in mind. Personally, this is more of a Summer stop than I winter stop when in London, I feel that if you visit on a winter day, you might be a little bit disappointed.

It’s a top location that one. I recall going up there in 2022 with some friends and it all looked so dry everywhere with that very hot summer that year.

It’s almost as if someone had painted that scene on canvas first and then built modern London afterwards!

ohhh no, I know what you mean, sometimes if it is too hot that happens indeed. I really love to go there often and just appreciate the view :D
