First day I heard about green passport was during teaching in secondary school. Entering class late took away full gist of the class concerning green passport. Only teaching I heard by the teacher was that green passport is for those who are interested to travel outside Nigeria. Being said by my teacher, I was very excited returning home from school. Friends wanted us to play on my way to the house, I turned them down out of my excitement that I can now travel to USA with a green passport.
Returning home from school, my mother looked at my face and all she saw was excitement. She asked what was behind my excitement, I told her that God have answered out prayers. My mother echoed Amen.
I prepared to live Nigeria for the United States of America. I took a green paper from my room, showed it to my elder sister as a green passport. As my elder sister saw green paper I showed her as a green passport, she laughed at me, insulted me. She then assisted me by saying paper presented to her was not a green passport. My elder sister told me, green passport comes with a passport with green color.
Exactly same day, I rushed down to a cyber cafe where I can snap a passport. During snapping of the passport, I told the photographer to help me change the background of the passport to green color. The photographer changed background of the passport.
Grave mistake I passed through was to take the changed background passport to Nigeria embassy. The embassy attendees first look at my height and set aside the age verification because they don't want to embarrass me. I was asked to tender my green passport to them, out my excitement, I removed the changed background passport from my bag and give to them. The embassy attendees told me to give them Nigeria green passport and not what I give to them. At this point in time, I was full of confusion as the embassy attendees and other travelers were all mocking. Looking back how old I was, I witnessed highest embarrassment of my life.
Green is green na, did the embassy attendees not see the green background on your passport, do not worry dear, go and snap another green passport, you will be allow to travel.
Haba na, are you mocking me like I meet at the embassy. In future, I'll merit the real green passport.
No, I am telling you not to loose hope, be positive about your travel and continue to snap passport, maybe in the future things will change 😂
