MY PROUDEST MOMENT

One of the proudest moments in my life was receiving my undergraduate degree in the presence of my grandmother and mother. This meant a lot to myself and my family because I am the second of my family to graduate from a university. My grandmother never received a formal education and my mother was unable to pursue higher education. As I sat in the auditorium I reflected on the past five years of my life pursuing my undergraduate degree. I had a moment of clarity and calm and came to appreciate what I had accomplished and the obstacles I overcame. From a very young age, I had no choice but to become independent and take responsibility for myself because my mother could not afford my tuition fee.

The situation was strict and it was a very difficult time for my family. It became almost impossible to attend classes, take care of my mother and sisters and work. Unfortunately, my studies suffered and I was forced to take a leave of absence from the university. It was a difficult choice to make but I did what was necessary for my family at that time. A year later, I returned to the university with more drive and determination than ever before. I had to finish what I started.

Since I was a little boy,I have always been told to be on top of my studies and to go do what I love most. However, with college I am able to take on and obtain new knowledge to further my studies and do what I love most. I see college as another stepping stone into a great life and future. Being able to attend college is a blessing, this will help me understand and see the different perspective of the world around me. The final reason that led me to college is to experience the life of a college student

The year and a half I spent after high school wondering what I should do with my life was a pretty low point in my life. I was confused and most of the time thought poorly of myself. Going to class and seeing myself succeed made me feel better than I had in quite a while. Then finding a career that I am excited about has helped me be eager for what the future holds.

In fact, I hardly even moved even though I was terrified of what was coming as I might be losing someone who had been there for me since I was a kid but from that point onward, I vowed that I would do anything and everything to please my mother and make her proud of me.Every subsequent award won and every honor bestowed upon me has been inspired by the recollection of my mother's plight. However, after I fathered my first born I knew I had to do something different for him. I wanted him to have a better chance at life than I did. The choices I make should never affect my young in a negative way.

My mother was not able to go to a university when she graduated high school because she became pregnant with me. Because of her struggles, she has always instilled in me that graduating from a four-year university is the most important thing to do in my life. If I went to college, I would have a bright and successful future because I would be fully developed into a responsible and well-rounded young man.
