30 DAY CHALLENGE: My favorite childhood book (Day 11)

in Blogging Challenge4 years ago (edited)

Fawaka (whatsup) everyone! 20+ hours and it' s me again!

Today I will be talking about my favorite childhood book (what I can remember and why this was one of the most fun childhood books for me).

When I was a child, my parents used to read me bed time stories (which I appreciate a lot). I will for sure do that for my children as well. My dad used to read a lot of "Suske en Wiske" and "Lucky luke" to me. He had a minimum of 50 books of each so the bed time stories never came to an end hahah. My mom used to read stories to me as well and she always came up with these great stories that she just told from the top of her head.

The story that for some reason stuck was me was "Vijf brandweermannetjes" which means five firefighters. It's crazy that I am writing this today, because just 2 days ago I was talking about how I want to read this book to my children when I get older (oh yeah my girlfriend can confirm). I was listening to the audio-version of this book at 2 in the morning 2 days ago. So this almost feels like Desha vu. The book is about 5 firefighters who go to family Lutteput to put out a fire that started in their home. At first they can't manage to get the Aunt out of the house, but after trying a lot of things they finally manage to do so. If you are reading this and you have kids this is definitely a book that I would advise ! The fun thing that stuck with my were the sound effects that my parents used to make when the fire trucks raced through the streets with their sirens...weeeoee wweeooeee tuutt tuuut ttutt wieeew wieeew.. (HAHAH I Sound crazy).

If you wan to check out this child hold legend feel free to check out this audio version on YouTube which should bring back a lot of memories for Dutchies and people of Suriname!
