30 days blogging challenge day 4: Your dream job

I hope that I will not offend anyone with this one, but in my humble opinion, a dream job does not exist. If we look at the definition of the word "job", we get the following:

"a paid position of regular employment"

I can not believe someone would have a dream of regular employment. Yes, it could be that circumstances could lead to a short-term wish to get a job, or that the living conditions in a certain area are that unfavorable that someone would be happy with her or his job. But I prefer a dream career better.

Here is a great Chris Rock piece on this😀:

Ok, I have been difficult enough so, let`s redefine the question (for myself) and answer right away.

What is my dream career?

As you may have guessed by reading some of my earlier blogs I can be a difficult person in the workforce, so my dream career may come as a surprise.

My dream career is to be the second/third in command (Intrapreneur) while having full control and trust from the first or second in command as a Chief Operations Officer or Chief Marketing Officer. Because this is a very hard career to find right away (you have to build up the trust), I can settle to be the Solo-Entrepreneur myself (and work with freelancers) which is also fine. Even though I will have to work harder and maybe even have more stress, the idea that I call my own shots and have to fight for everything is more satisfying to me. The reason why I prefer the COO or CMO position above the CEO position is that I can be very laid back sometimes which can send the wrong message as a culture within a business. But there is more to it, the CEO has to formulate business objectives (I can do that, but my skill set is better to redefine these objectives as I like to hack ideas) and even report to several investors (which I don't like). I also really enjoy working with other people and help them grow (which is possible as the CEO), but also like to keep my options open (which is very difficult as the Owner/CEO).

I also like to have side hustles! I will start a new side hustle next month (waiting on the chamber of commerce), so who knows, maybe it will grow into a real business, where I can redefine my role as the COO while being the (secret) owner😉.
