I have a feeling this is going to be a long one 😁, so let`s dive right into it!
20 facts about me and which I also use as my #introduceyourself post.
- I have three daughters:
Nila, Jada and Julia.
2.Born in the Netherlands, moved to Suriname when I was 9 and went back to the Netherlands when I was 18.
I was born in 1985 in Amsterdam, but my parents decided in 1994 to move back to Suriname (My father had his business in Suriname). Which is one of the best things that could happen to me. While the Neighbourhood in Amsterdam that I was living in went really bad between 1993 and 2005 (gentrification stopped it). I enjoyed the rich culture (and food😆) from Suriname, which turned me into a way more confident man. Confident enough to leave my parents house to go back to the Netherlands shortly after I turned 18 😁.
3.I have a brother, sister and little brother
4.My favourite anime is Dragon Ball Z
5.My top 5 series ever (in order): The Wire, Game of Thrones, Sopranos, Breaking Bad and Better call saul.
6.I have only picked up my Primary school diploma in person
Yes, that is me on the right 😄.
Not my last diploma, but certainly the last one I picked up in person.
How come you ask?
4 years later, I had to do resit exams because of 2 E`s for Spanish and drumroll Drawing, yes drawing was part of the exams in Suriname and I suck at it.
Another 2 years later I went back to the Netherlands on my last exam day😅, so my brother picked up my diploma.
The college diploma I never picked up, because I got a job after my internship and did not see the necessity to pick it up, as my views on school changed after I got my first (real) job.
7.My favourite colour is blue.
Not much to explain here 😉
8.I have 7 swimming diplomas.
When I was 4 I started swimming and picked up the first 2, but in 1991 school swimming was still mandatory, so I picked up 2 more. When I moved to Suriname I picked up 3 more😁.
9.I played (online) poker on a semi-professional level during 2006.
I took a nice 9-week vacation to Suriname afterwards 😊.
10.My first casino experience was with my grandmother
When I was 17 my grandmother smuggled me into a casino in Suriname. Since she is not around anymore I won`t go into detail, but I loved it 😄.
11.I was the number 2 U17 shot put player from Suriname in 2000.
Since I was just 15 and could hit the qualification mark and the number 1 was 2 years older, everything pointed to me as the guy who would represent Suriname during the Carifta games in 2001, but because of my Dutch nationality, I could not represent Suriname ☹️. I never participated in shot put afterwards.
12.My favourite football club is Arsenal (since 1996, together with Fc Barcelona, but I am no longer a fan of the last one)
13.My favourite NBA club is Miami Heat (since 2003). Before that, it was the Chicago Bulls.
14.I almost always root for the underdog.
For some reason, I always feel a pull towards underdogs in competitions, that could explain the 2 points before this one😅.
15.I have moved 11 times during 36 years.
The longest stay at one address was in Suriname (9 years).
16.I was a member of the Yonguwan foundation in Suriname.
Yonguwan was a foundation that helped kids in Suriname with affordable trips within the country, by combining these trips with tourists. I build a lot of wonderful relationships during this time.
17.I was really late in the crypto space.
I was really sceptic till 2020.
18.I have switched from reading books to 95% podcasts and audiobooks.
I really enjoy audiobooks more because I can combine them with walks.
19.I am a rebel.
I always struggled with authority, which can hamper me with a career, I think that Freelancing suits me the best. But being a rebel has its pro's and con's (ask my diets 😅) but I am really working on it.
20.I really enjoy fantasy sports.
DraftKings recently broke my heart by leaving the Netherlands for a while (although it was more the government's fault) as I really liked Draftkings. At this moment I am in 4 NBA leagues and have 1 Fantasy Premier League team
