Hello everybody! Today we will continue our virtual walk through the streets of Veliky Novgorod and I will show you a very picturesque place. At first I assumed that this was a small monastery, but later it turned out that the Znamensky Cathedral was located there, and the territory enclosed by a stone wall was just a small cozy courtyard of the temple.

INFORMATION FROM THE NETWORK: The Znamensky Cathedral is an architectural monument of the XVII century and one of the main attractions of Veliky Novgorod. There are many legends and legends associated with its history, most of which feature the icon "The Sign". It was for the storage of this cherished shrine that the temple was built. The cathedral cannot be separated from the surrounding buildings of the XVII–XIX centuries: bell towers, Holy Gates and almshouses.

Once upon a time, before the invasion of the Levonians, there was a small Church of the Sign. It was made of wood and contained unique ancient icons. Later, when Novgorod was no longer such an important trading city, a stone temple was built on the site of the church.

We came here on foot, walking along Ilyina Street. Being fascinated by the ancient buildings, we decided to go through the ancient gate to see the courtyard and all its buildings from the inside. There is an information plaque next to the temple telling about the history of this place.

There is also a bronze model, which is installed right on the street in the open air. The entire territory of the temple is depicted on the market as it originally looked. There is even a mock-up of the Transfiguration Church, located nearby, across the street. Apparently, both temples used to be part of a single complex.

It was very interesting for me to explore this place in more detail. With a camera in my hands, I looked into almost every corner of the yard and made a lot of long and short-range plans. We found a bell tower, various house buildings and even found another gate leading to the courtyard from the opposite side.

The atmosphere of antiquity is so strongly felt in this place that I even wanted to imagine how the lives of priests and ordinary parishioners of the temple flowed here in the old days. For some reason, I remembered historical films that tell just about that period of the Russian state.

That day we walked around Novgorod a little more and saw something interesting. The weather was favorable for us, although it rained for a couple of minutes and slightly dampened the summer heat. Tomorrow I'll tell you about what else we were lucky enough to see that day, but that's it for today!

Привет всем! Сегодня мы продолжим виртуальную прогулку по улицам Великого Новгорода и я покажу вам весьма живописное место. Вначале я предположил, что это небольшой монастырь, но позже оказалось, что там расположен Знаменский собор, а территория, огороженная каменной стеной - всего лишь небольшое уютное подворье храма.

СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Знаменский собор — памятник зодчества XVII века и одна из главных достопримечательностей Великого Новгорода. С его историей связано множество преданий и легенд, в большинстве из которых фигурирует икона «Знамение». Именно для хранения этой заветной святыни и был возведен храм. Собор не отделим от окружающих его построек XVII–XIX веков: колокольни, Святых ворот и богодельни.

Когда-то давно, еще до нашествия Левонцев, здесь была небольшая Знаменская церковь. Она была деревянной и в ней хранились уникальные древние иконы. Позже, когда Новгород уже не был столь значимым торговым городом, на месте церкви выстроили каменный храм.

Мы пришли сюда пешком, пройдя по улице Ильина. Будучи очарованными старинными постройками, мы решили пройти в старинные ворота, чтобы увидеть подворье и все его постройки изнутри. Рядом с храмом есть Информационная табличка, рассказывающая об истории возникновения этого места.

Также здесь есть бронзовый макет, который установлен прямо на улице под открытым небом. На маркете изображена вся территория храма так, как она выглядела изначально. Здесь есть даже макет Преображенской церкви, расположенной рядом, через дорогу. Судя по всему, раньше оба храма входили в единый комплекс.

Мне было очень интересно исследовать это место подробнее. С фотоаппаратом в руках я заглянул почти в каждй уголок двора и сделал много дальних и ближних планов. Мы отыскали колокольню, разные домовые постройки и даже нашли другие ворота, ведущие во двор с противоположной стороны.

В этом месте так сильно ощущается атмосфера старины, что мне даже захотелось представить, как в прежние времена здесь протекала жизнья священников и простых прихожан храма. Отчего-то вспомнились исторические фильмы, рассказывающие как раз о том периоде Российсого государства.

В тот день мы ещё немного походили по Новгороду и увидели кое-что интересное. Погода благоприятствовала нам, хотя на пару минут пошёл дождь и слегка приглушил летний зной. Завтра я расскажу о том, что нам ещё посчастливилось увидеть в тот день, а на сегодня у меня всё!
