Monte Piedad Boulevard
I continue to discover and enjoy the hidden secrets of Caracas. On my last trip to this beautiful city, I discovered places that are not very touristy but are full of charm, where you can feel the true vibe of a city that moves at its own pace. Sometimes, sightseeing on your own can be an uncertain adventure, but in this case, it is an unforgettable experience, as the Venezuelan capital is made up of beautiful landscapes, streets steeped in history, and friendly people.

El Bulevar de Monte Piedad
Sigo descubriendo y disfrutando de los secretos escondidos en la ciudad de Caracas, en mi último viaje por esa bella ciudad descubrí espacios poco turísticos, pero al mismo tiempo lleno de encantos, en donde se puede sentir la verdadera vibra de una urbe que se desliza a su propio ritmo. A veces hacer turismo por cuenta propia es adentrarse en una aventura incierta, pero en este caso se trata de una experiencia inolvidable ya que la capital venezolana se constituye de paisajes hermosos, calles con historias y un pueblo amigable.

The 23 de Enero neighborhood is a working-class residential area. For many years, this large area in western Caracas was classified as dangerous or a red zone, so sightseeing in a place like this was unthinkable. However, with the passing of time and the social transformation of the Venezuelan people, we now find an area that welcomes the world with open arms. It still lacks tourist services, but it undoubtedly hides spectacular viewpoints, a pleasant climate, and an indescribable sense of security.
La Urbanización 23 de Enero es un espacio residencial de características populares, durante muchos años toda esta gran zona del oeste caraqueño estaba catalogada como espacio de peligro o área roja, por lo tanto hacer turismo en un espacio como este era impensable. Pero con el transcurrir de los años y la transformación social del pueblo venezolano, nos encontramos con un espacio que le abre sus brazos al mundo, un área que aún no cuenta con servicios turísticos, pero que indudablemente esconde unos miradores espectaculares, un clima agradable y una sensación de seguridad que es indescriptible.
I arrived at this place by chance, as I simply set out to walk and discover whatever fate had in store for me. What's more, the afternoon was torn between clouds and sunshine, there was no heat, and the desire to discover new places was very much present in my mind, so without hesitation I simply let my steps mark the route.
A este espacio llegué por casualidad, puesto que simplemente me dediqué a caminar y a descubrir lo que el destino me tuviera presente. Además la tarde se debatía entre nubes y sol, el calor está ausente y las ganas por descubrir nuevos espacios estaba muy presente dentro de mi mente, Por eso sin dudarlo simplemente dejé que mis pasos marcaran la ruta.
Between buildings and streets, I came to a boulevard that runs alongside a main street, whose terracotta pavement contrasts perfectly with the greenery of the surroundings, the colorful flags, and the hues of the buildings. To tell the truth, I don't know the name of this space, and when I asked some passersby, some told me that it was originally called Simón Díaz, but that many years ago that was no longer its name and most people simply call it the boulevard. Therefore, I find it curious that a public space of this nature is an anonymous place. which makes me a little confused, but at the same time, I find it super interesting because we can simply call it whatever we want, thus creating a sense of belonging and ownership over a space that belongs to everyone.
Entre edificios y calles llegué a un bulevar que bordea una calle principal y cuyo piso de terracotas contrasta a la perfección con el verdor del entorno, el colorido de las banderas y los matices de los edificios. A decir verdad desconozco el nombre de este espacio y cuando le pregunté a algunos transeúntes algunos me dijeron que originalmente se llamaba Simón Díaz, pero que hace ya muchos años ese había dejado de ser su nombre y la mayoría simplemente lo llaman el bulevar, por lo tanto me parece curioso que un espacio público de estas características sea un lugar anónimo, eso me genera un tanto desconcierto, pero al mismo tiempo te parece súper interesante, porque sencillamente lo podemos llamar como sea creando así un sentido de pertenencia y de propiedad sobre un espacio que le pertenece a todos.
This area is called Monte Piedad. I suppose it's because we're at the top of a small hill, so I'll call it Monte Piedad Boulevard. There are lots of trees, grass, and some red plants here.
Este sector se llama Monte Piedad, Supongo que es porque nos encontramos en la cima de una pequeña colina, por lo tanto yo lo llamaré el Boulevar de Monte Piedad, acá abundan los árboles, la grama y algunas plantas de color rojo.
Throughout the space, we find various signs, some with the name of the city, others with nearby landmarks, and many painted with graffiti alluding to political expressions or phrases. Without a doubt, this space must have great stories to tell, since from its panoramic views we can see the heart of the city, the centers of power, and the neighborhoods that were once on the outskirts but are now part of everyday life.
A lo largo y ancho de todo el espacio encontramos diversos letreros, algunos de ellos con el nombre de la ciudad, otros con momentos que se encuentran cerca y muchos pintados con graffiti aludiendo a expresiones o frases políticas. Sin duda alguna, este espacio debe tener grandes historias, puesto que desde sus vistas panorámicas podemos observar al corazón de la ciudad, los centros de poder y las barriadas que antes eran la periferia, pero que ahora son parte de la vida cotidiana.
There are no squares, statues, or busts on the boulevard, which is also curious, but it is part of that anonymity that I ended up liking very much, since our gaze is not focused on a single focal point, but rather we have the opportunity to visualize 360 degrees, discovering mountains, buildings, streets, and avenues, always under a sky full of life.
Sobre el espacio del bulevar no hay plazas, estatuas ni bustos, lo cual también es curioso, pero es parte de ese anonimato que al final me terminó gustando mucho, ya que nuestra mirada no se centra en un solo punto focal, sino que tenemos la oportunidad de visualizar en 360 grados, descubriendo montañas, edificios, calles y avenidas, siempre un cielo lleno de vida.
Only at one end and at the bottom of this entire space did I come across a small square, which really has nothing to do with the urban area of the boulevard, but is very close by and can be reached on foot; therefore, I decided to include it in my tour. This place has a statue in honor of Fabricio Ojeda, a Venezuelan politician who was known for his fight against the dictatorship in the late 1950s and whose example of sacrifice would transcend the years. Despite being a completely separate space, it is clear that it is part of the urban design and at the same time marks the transition point between the residential area and an avenue that connects to the center and west of the city.
Solo a un extremo y en la parte inferior de todo este espacio me tropecé con una pequeña plaza, la cual realmente no tiene nada que ver con el área urbana del bulevar, pero se encuentra muy cerca y se puede llegar a pie; por lo cual, decidí incluirla en mi recorrido. En este lugar se tiene una estatua en honor a Fabricio Ojeda, quien habría sido un político venezolano destacado por su lucha contra la dictadura por allá a finales de los años 50 y cuyo ejemplo de sacrificio trascendería a través de los años. A pesar de ser un espacio totalmente aparte, se nota que incluye dentro del mismo diseño urbano y al mismo tiempo marca el punto de transición entre el área residencial y una avenida que conecta hacia el centro y oeste de la ciudad.
Back at the top of the hill, I can tell you that the views are spectacular; here we see the city without filters, adjustments, or retouching. We don't just see the beautiful buildings on the covers of tourist magazines or a pristine mountain free of construction. Here we see the urban and social reality of Caracas, where we live among residential spaces, working-class neighborhoods, green areas, and commercial towers, all under the same sky.
De vuelta en la cima de la colina, puedo contarles que las vistas son privilegiadas; aquí no observamos a la ciudad con filtros, arreglos o retoques, no solo se ven los lindos edificios de las portadas de revistas turísticas, ni una montaña impecable libre de construcciones. Aquí observamos la realidad urbana y social de Caracas, en donde convivimos entre espacios residenciales, zonas populares, áreas verdes y torres comerciales, todo esto bajo un mismo cielo.
Sometimes it's nice to go sightseeing with a guide, but when we embark on an adventure, we're not just getting to know a place, we're connecting with everything that place represents. And as we experience each trip firsthand, without realizing it, we're forging new experiences, collecting anecdotes, and adding new adventures to our life story.
A veces es muy lindo hacer turismo siguiendo una guía, pero cuando nos lanzamos a la aventura no solo estamos conociendo un espacio, sino que estamos conectando con todo lo que representa ese lugar, y así como vivimos en primera persona cada paseo, sin darnos cuenta vamos forjando nuevas experiencias, cosechando anécdotas y agregando nuevas aventuras en nuestro libro de vida.

Really hope Caracas has improved significantly in terms of safety, as it was considered the most violent city in the world after the big humanitarian crisis of Venezuela
@latinowinner I really think it's a pretty safe city. I've been to places far from the center and many popular areas, and I've found the atmosphere to be very peaceful and friendly.
