Most people are aware in regards to the existence of Putrajaya but many only realize the vastness of this place until they've experienced it with their own eyes and limbs. A trip to Putrajaya evoked a plethora of memories, mostly pleasant ones. The first time I brought a foreigner here, a petite Filipina, it had been fun. After going out with me, her relationship with her parents improves tremendously. I have countless horrifying human trafficking stories or actual crime fiction genres to share 😂 If you have stubborn daughters thinking about running away from home just because of some insignificant misunderstanding, you're most welcome to send them to me. Kidding! I'm too busy to babysit.
Putrajaya Steps is just one small obscure part of Putrajaya. There are other significant landmarks, gardens, and lakes that require time for thorough exploration. Equestrian sports and kayaking to my surprise are offered in Putrajaya as well. These days, I enjoy my simple morning exercise routine here. Steps in combination with other cardiovascular and endurance exercises are effective training in preparation for Himalayan basecamp trekking.
In the past and even up to this very present day, I still maintain a love-and-hate relationship with my birth country. Malaysia is a complicated country with a very complex but systemic set of problems. On top of that, foreigners are often critical of us even though they themselves are unable to get their shit together. If everyone is so perfect, we would all be living in a place known as Utopia and that's certainly nonexistent on planet Earth as far as I'm concerned.
Putrajaya had always been a very controversial judicial and administrative region. Some think it's a waste of public funding to shift government offices from Kuala Lumpur to this part of the country while some think otherwise. The final cost was estimated to be USD 8.1 billion. Only 10% of building materials were from imported sources. Nevertheless, when certain people are discouraged from participating in politics, they are allowing funding to be mismanaged by those in positions of power.
While foreigners are eager to learn more about good governance in Singapore due to the book entitled "Crazy Rich Asians" written by an author who evaded military conscription, I am anticipating a book entitled "From Prison to Putrajaya." Malaysia's political landscape reached a new breakthrough via the acceptance of a former political prisoner to become the 10th Prime Minister. None of the Prime Ministers in other ASEAN countries had to suffer the fate of framed political prisoners. Most of them are descendants of political elites including Singapore. This change enriches the existing uniqueness of Malaysia.
After exercising, I made a lot of new friends in Putrajaya. The adorable and affectionate orange cat had already been adopted. There are quite a few kindred spirits who enjoy feeding stray cats opposite the Putra Mosque area where Putra Square is located. There are also those enjoying picnics here on weekends after a good marathon. Occasionally, strangers approached me to have a chat nearby. These days I'm busy taking care of a stray kitten. A feral mother cat left her baby in my garden. Will talk about it another time.
