Living abroad can be emotionally difficult during the holiday season. Expats, like myself, miss their families and friends the most during the holiday season. Being bombarded with pictures of family gatherings on social media doesn't help either. Fortunately, last year, my friend group decided to leave thetropical climate of Da Nang, Vietnam and travel into the mountains to the city of Da Lat. We didn't regret it at all.

Da Lat is a unique town located in southern Vietnam that is known for producing agriculture like tea, coffee, and flowers. It's popular among local tourist because the region's climate is vastly different from the rest of Vietnams tropical climate. The climate is much cooler and the city experiences all four seasons.

When we first arrived we checked into our Airbnb and went to a cafe. Like most cities in Vietnam, Da Lat is filled with Cafes that feed the country's robust coffee culture.

After coffee, we walked around the city looking at local sites like the Night Market, unfortunately I forgot to take pictures. Later that night we went to a swanky restaurant that was out of our price range. We were tired from traveling so we went back to our AirBnB after dinner.

The next day we went to a popular tourist destination in Da Lat called the puppy farm. The puppy farm was a peculiar place because one section was full of maybe fifty or sixty dogs that people could play with. The dogs were cute, friendly, and well fed, but were also drowzy and bored. Maybe the constant stimulation from tourist causes them to be drowsy. Either way I'm not sure how I felt about this place, but many of my friends loved it.

The puppy farm also had huge gardens that people could take photos in front of. The gardens were full of flowers of all shapes and sizes. We were able to take so many beautiful photos here.

Our first impressions of Da Lat were amazing and we loved every moment of the experience.
