Along the Belle Fourche in Hulett - Wondrous Wyoming

We were away for a few days this past week. It didn't work out quite as planned, but we did get a little bit done. The first night out, we stayed in Hulett, Wyoming, in a lovely little motel along the side of the Belle Fourche (pronounced FOOSH).

Hulett is a tiny town (less than 400 residents) lying at the edge of the Black Hills in Northeast Wyoming - and is the closest town to the famous Devil's Tower monument which I'll cover soon (I'm still editing the hundreds of pictures I took around that!) It has a school, a library, a grocery store, a couple of small restaurants, an airport and a police car that sits at the northeast edge of town with a mannequin to watch for speeders.

An old grain elevator, not sure if it's still in use.

It seems that at least two residents are mannequins. Are you there, Marilyn? Or are you just another lookalike? This one occupies a vintage phone booth at the south edge of town next to a real estate agent.

Here's some of the scenery, up and down the Belle Fourche from the motel.

A group of sheep next to the river. I don't often see sheep in Wyoming these days, so it's a nice change.

The rest of the pictures are from the bridge across the Belle Fourche. It was hazy due to the Montana wildfires this year, so I played with an extra filter on Photoscape to retain some blue for the sky.
