Hello everybody! Today we had a trip to visit the winding and dangerous pass roads, enjoy the cool air of the clouds at the top of Hai Van Pass. Although this road is a very familiar place for me every time I go to and from the two cities, I still have a very strange feeling every time I go through the roads on this pass at different times. Hai Van Pass is the boundary of the two cities of Hue and Da Nang where have the Hai Van road tunnel connecting the Southern and Northern by the National Highway 1A. This is said to be the largest tunnel in Vietnam built through the mountain to replace the roads of the dangerous Hai Van Pass. The scenery here seems to be very beautiful in the warm weather and sunny, especially on mild sunny days of summer, there are often a lot of white clouds covering the top of Hai Van creating very majestic scenes. Now, let's admire the scenery and things in this Pass.
Where is Hai Van Pass located?
Hai Van Pass is a mountain pass in the Truong Son range that cuts through the Bach Ma mountain range in Phu Loc district, Hue city. The Pass is located in the North of Hue city and the South of Da Nang city and it's also considered the boundary of these two cities. With an altitude of 500m above sea level, Hai Van Pass is also known as Ai Van Pass because at the top of it that is often covered with clouds and there is a gate built during the feudal period, called is a border crossing between two cities. Today with the investment and development of the pass routes in both cities, the road leading to this pass is somewhat more favorable than many years ago, when this area still has rugged mountain trails.
Why is this place considered a dangerous mountain pass area?
A long time ago, Hai Van was considered a pass with much charming scenery like a fairyland, but with that beauty, there were many dangers of roads, wild animals, and bandits. Therefore, in ancient times, the cultures of the two South and North Viet Nam were rarely exchanged and integrated. Later with the development of society, this area was built many roads and tunnels to connect the two areas, then travel also became easier, and gradually the dangers here are gone, instead, Hai Van Pass is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign backpackers.
What does Hai Van Pass have?
Currently, at the top of the pass, many beautiful destinations attract a lot of young people every day, many coffee shops are built with unique views at the foot of the high cliffs and in front of the blue bay or the shops located at the top of the pass leading to the highest place of this area. You can visit these and relax with the cool air of the clouds with a cup of hot coffee.
In addition to the coffee shops, this place is also the gate leading to Van Village, an abandoned village for many years chosen by many young people to camp overnight. The same route also leads to Hai Van Bac Station, a prominent place with natural scenery surrounded by train tracks. Not far from it is an arch bridge built across the mountain to allow trains to pass along with countless beautiful.
Experiences when we came to Hai Van Pass
We crossed the big cloud and stopped at a coffee shop at the top of the pass, the air here is quite cold because there is no sun, a lot of people stop by and take pictures in the clouds, standing here you can observe all the winding roads below the pass, moving vehicles and clouds floating here. We ordered a cup of hot coffee and enjoyed the wonderful feeling of the journey, taking a few photos to record the experience of standing on the highest point of Hai Van Pass. Although it was sunny at the foot of the pass, when we came here and entered a big cloud, the sun was hidden by clouds and only cold patches of dense fog.
Stop by Hai Van Quan (Hai Van Gate), this is an ancient building built in feudal times, and is considered as the gate of this pass. Many tourists come here and take pictures of this area. It looks citadel with an arched entrance gate built of bricks, this is the main symbol at Hai Van peak. In addition to this gate, some old buildings next to it were built for military purposes and used to observe vision for the army before. Standing in this area, you can look down at the sea of clouds floating throughout the area and the beautiful scenery of the green mountains and forests. Hai Van is still the discovery of many domestic and foreign backpackers, the Pass has a lot of beauty that cannot be experienced in one trip, every trip we feel differently about the natural scenery in this place, so if you have a chance, try going in different seasons to see this special difference.
Above is my article about my trip to discover Hai Van Pass, a high and dangerous pass and the boundary of the North and South. I hope after reading my article you will have a feeling of excitement and freshness every time you mention Hai Van Pass, Hai Van Quan and there will be a new destination on your list of upcoming trips. Thank you for your reading my article and have a great day.

Hi, this road through the mountains is amazing, we have a similar road here in Romania and it's called Transfăgărășan, and the surroundings look amazing with lots of greenery.
Really? I hope I can see it in your article in the future. 😊
