Son Tra Peninsula is a famous place in Da Nang City, this is considered an attractive tourist destination by many tourists every time they mention this city because it has many natural landscapes, diverse mountains, and forests, also home to rare animals species. Along with the combination of sacred places with unique architecture such as pagodas and nearby attractive destinations, this place has gradually become a symbol of the city that welcomes many tourists from far and wide every year.
Today, I and some friends had a trip to visit some places on the peninsula and enjoy the cool, fresh air at a coffee shop on the way up with a beautiful view. Now follow me to discover more about this peninsula.
1.The origin of the Son Tra Peninsula along with diverse natural scenes
Son Tra Peninsula is famous as a primeval forest with diverse and unique ecosystems and natural landscapes, accompanied by a year-round cool climate. Since ancient times, this place was known as a floating island with 3 separate mountains, but due to the flow of the sea and alluvium accretion over time, these 3 mountains become seamless into a long strip of land that connecting from the mainland to the sea, so today people call this peninsula Son Tra. This is one of the famous tourist destinations for visitors every time they come to Da Nang city, in addition to the majestic natural landscape, this place is also a prominent place because of its origin.
2.The location of the peninsula
Son Tra Peninsula is located at Tho Quang ward, Son Tra District - Da Nang City, about 8 km from the city center and this is a place that is considered as a gem of Da Nang city which is on the list of areas that need to be preserved natural landscapes. Coming to Son Tra peninsula and running along the Hoang Sa road, you can see many beauties of unspoiled mountains and forests on winding roads and cover them with an ecosystem of many green trees, rare animals, and deep cliffs adjacent to the blue sea. The unique beauty that is nowhere to be found on the peninsula has made many tourists, as well as people in the city, excited and it is always one of the must-experience places in the first time s when they come to this city.
3. Some unique tourist destinations in this land
Linh Ung Pagoda
Linh Ung Pagoda is one of the pagodas located on the high side of Son Tra peninsula with an altitude of about 1500m above sea level and is also the most accessible place in this peninsula. With unique construction architecture, the tranquility of natural mountains, and many mysterious stories, the temple true to its name Linh Ung is widely known to many tourists inside and outside the city and including foreign tourists every time they come to Vietnam. The temple has many campuses to worship many different gods, especially Bai But is home to the statue of Avalokitesvara Buddha, which is said to be the largest in Vietnam with a height of 67m and a 35m diameter lotus flower. Buddha statue with its back to the mountain and facing the blue sea with a gentle face. In addition, in the temple grounds, there are many trees and other small statues carved with different shapes of Buddhas and arhats.
Walking around Linh Ung Pagoda, you will see unique tower architectures, lake works, resting places, and natural scenery around the area all bearing the Asian Buddhist identity. Besides these architectural works, this is also the habitat of primates, you will probably encounter a lot of monkeys every time you visit Linh Ung Pagoda. You can go for a walk and admire the beautiful scenery and read the captions about the history of formation and descriptions of the area you are standing in, all of them are engraved on large steles placed in the entrance area.
Dong Dinh Museum
Dong Dinh Museum is a museum located next to Linh Ung Pagoda, with a design style hidden in the mountains and covered with many green orphan trees, clear streams. This is the second tourist attraction after Linh Ung Pagoda. Dong Dinh Museum is a place to store and display objects and pottery of the ancients, this is considered a place to keep old cultural values to help people find lost old memories and traditions that lose long ago.
The reason it's called Dong Dinh is that it has a lot of luxuriant copper trees and the museum that is hidden in this area is named Dong Dinh. The entrance fee here is 20,000 VND per person per adult and free for children under 12 years old. Coming to this place, in addition to the museum displaying antiquities, there is also a rather prominent place called the memory house, a place where preserving and recreating the traditional features in the customs and habits of the ancient Cham people. The house is special because it is made from 2 wooden boats and 3 bamboo boats and 5 old baskets of Nam Tho village. Around the house, there are many decorative items related to fishing such as nets, fishing tools in the sea...
Because of the old beauty combined with the cool mountain space, people have taken advantage of the surrounding area of the museum to set up a small coffee shop facing the sea. You can enjoy the green space of the mountains in the old house with a cup of coffee after walking around the museum. There are many tourists in the city who come here mainly just to see the blue sea scenery and enjoy a cup of coffee and interesting stories. We sat at the memory house and enjoyed the quiet space of the mountains after walking around the campus.
Above is everything about my Son Tra peninsula tour and the weekend. This is quite an interesting trip for me because we almost went to all the campuses in these 2 places and stopped by the most beautiful coffee shop here, to talk about interesting things we encountered during our trip. Hopefully, through this article, you will have more ideas and new places for your travels in the future.
