My trip to Punta Cana was in October 2014, I arrived in Santo Domingo, from there we went by bus to a small town called Higuey to finally take the bus to Punta Cana. Before all that we took a walk through Chinatown and the colonial zone, unfortunately in Chinatown it was very dangerous to take out the cell phone to take photos, but in the colonial zone it was possible, although with some caution. We pass through the Ozama Fortress, which is the oldest military fort on the continent, the museum of the royal houses that was formerly called "Palacio de la Real Audiencia de Santo Domingo", it is a museum of the colonial history of the island.
Mi viaje a Punta Cana fue en Octubre de 2014, llegué a Santo Domingo, de allí nos fuimos en bus hasta un pueblito q se llama HigÜey para tomar finalmente el bus a Punta Cana. Antes de todo eso dimos un paseo por el barrio chino y la zona colonial, lamentablemente en el barrio chino era muy peligroso sacar el celular para tomar fotos , pero en la zona colonial si se podía aunque con algo de cautela. Pasamos por la Fortaleza Ozama que es el fuerte militar más antiguo del continente, el museo de las casas reales que antiguamente se llamaba "Palacio de la Real Audiencia de Santo Domingo", es un museo de la historia colonial de la isla
Everything was relatively fast since we had a bus to take to Punta Cana so there was no time to do much sightseeing, so we quickly visited the ruins of the San Nicolás de Bari hospital, which is the oldest hospital in America, from there we went to El Conde street, which is one of the oldest streets in Santo Domingo, at the time it was one of the main streets, now it is the only pedestrian street in the city and Plaza Colon, which is where in colonial times the festivities were celebrated
Todo fue relativamente rápido ya que teníamos un bus que tomar a Punta Cana asi q no dio tiempo de hacer mucho turismo, rápidamente visitamos las ruinas del hospital de San Nicolás de Bari, que es el hospital más antiguo de América, de allí pasamos a la calle El Conde que es una de las calles más antiguas de Santo Domingo, es su momento fue de las calles principales, ahora es la única calle peatonal de la ciudad, y la plaza Colón que es donde en la época colonial se celebraban las fiestas
From there we visit the ruins of the monastery of San Francisco, where the remains of Alonso de Ojeda and Bartolomé Colón were found. The last visit we made was to the national pantheon where the remains of the island's heroes are found.
De allí visitamos las ruinas del monasterio de San Francisco, lugar donde se encontraban los restos de Alonso de Ojeda y Bartolomé Colón. La ultima visita la hicimos al panteón nacional donde se encuentran los restos de próceres de la isla.
We finally took the subway to the bus terminal that would take us to Higüey and from there to Punta Cana, our final destination and the subject of my next post!
Ya finalmente tomamos el metro hacia el terminal de buses q nos llevaría a Higüey y de allí a Punta Cana nuestro destino final y el tema de mi siguiente post!
