I’ve never tried the “savory waffle”combination, I’m used to them being sweet! Now I am very curious to try these more unusual varieties. Fake maple syrup is a big no-no for me as well (it’s basically a bunch of gooey over-sweetened chemicals).
What a beautiful place! I would spend a whole 2-3 weeks there some time during late summer when it’s still not too cold, but all the berries and nuts and mushrooms ripen.
The savory waffles, I didn't see it either until I tried. I was something else. It would be easy to spend considerable amount of time here, no berry or mushroom picking tho...no picking in National Parks. Other places tho outside of it would probably have the same thing without the pretty landscape.
That makes me wonder… do people still (or have ever) randomly collect mushrooms in the wilderness in Canada and the U.S., or is it a completely banned activity? Not commercially, of course, but say enough to add to a morning omelette several times during season? I gotta look it up :) I do not know much about mushrooms so I wouldn’t risk it anyway, but when I was a kid in Eastern Europe, my grandfather and I loved mushroom hunting and I knew how to distinguish local varieties…
