Hi.
Traveling around the Republic of Belarus this summer, I set myself one of the main tasks - to visit two famous castles.
One of them is the Nesvizh Castle. It is located in the city of Nesvizh (this is clear from its name).
It began to be built in the 16th century by Prince Radziwill, nicknamed the Orphan. The architect Giovanni Bernardoni was invited from Italy to do this.
The castle is beautiful. It does not look at all like dull medieval gray buildings. Rather, it looks more like a palace.
It is located on a high hill surrounded by a moat with water.
You can slowly move along the outer fortress wall and each step opens up more and more beautiful views of this castle.
Originally, the castle was made of wood and was located slightly away from the modern location. And only after some time it was decided to build a more reliable stone bastion.
In general, this castle was rebuilt quite often. This was typical of those times. The new owner wanted to rebuild it to suit his needs and tastes.
Once upon a time, underground passages went out of the castle beyond its walls. I don't know if they're still there.
The castle was constantly involved in all military conflicts that took place on the territory of modern Belarus. Actually, this was its direct purpose - a fortress.
Now it is a place of constant flow of tourists. Excursions are held in summer and even in autumn.
It is worth noting separately the beautiful park, which is located on the opposite bank of the moat from the castle.
I will definitely tell you about the interior of this architectural monument in the next post.
