Christmas Market near the Royal Castle(Zamek Królewski) in Warsaw, Poland

Hello travelers

In all the years that I traveled to different places both in Romania and abroad, I really wanted to visit as many Christmas markets as possible during the winter holidays, in order to get an idea about the local tradition and specific customs.

Honestly, each Christmas market that I visited had its own message, even if some of them were smaller, others were very big, each one managed to convey something to me, each one is unique in its own way, I could not categorize one fair as beautiful or another as ugly.

After all, the Christmas markets in many regions have a very old tradition, within these markets we can see products created by local craftsmen or we can try the local gastronomy, look, even here in Romania I recently found out that in many counties and especially near important tourist attractions have been created those gastronomic points.

What are these gastronomic points?

There are some restaurants, or maybe more said restaurants, some places in people's homes where the owners prepare for tourists traditional dishes from that area using only ingredients made by them or by locals.

I thought it was an amazing concept to be able to go into someone's home and taste traditional dishes similar to the ones your grandmother used to prepare for you many years ago.

That was a short parenthesis, now back to the Christmas market in the Polish capital, Warsaw.

Poland needs no introduction, it is simply amazing, here in the capital of Poland we stayed in a hotel quite far from the center, but with the help of public transport we got very quickly in the center.

The location of the Christmas market in Warsaw was right in the old town (Stare Miasto) near the Royal Castle (Zamek Królewski), I forgot to tell you that we visited this Christmas market in early December 2023, as I remember the fair opened somewhere in late November.

I was impressed how from the imposing glass buildings there in the center of the city we went to streets paved with cubic stone, as if I was sent back in history.

At first glance I was impressed by the beautifully colored buildings, being dark you can't really notice this (but take my word for it that during the day they are amazing).

Even if it was quite cold outside (-2/-3 degrees) I was looking forward to the traditional food stalls, and yes, I missed pierogi, I've eaten this kind of food when I visited the Christmas market in Krakow (also during this period).

The first stop was for food besides those pierogi I ate something else but I honestly don't remember what it was called, but it was a very good dish, I even ate two pieces of that dish.

The market is not very big but I liked how it was arranged, below I leave you some pictures taken here and there.

We didn't stay very long in the market because at one point we started to feel the low temperature so we slowly walked towards the first tram stop to return to the hotel.
