That was a beautiful day in Sep, after a few months living in Nelson, my friend and I decided to drive to Queenstown. We stopped by Hammer Springs and Lake Tekapo on the way.
New Zealand is definitely a breathtaking destination for those who love nature. When traveling to the South Island of the country there is a list of the stunning lakes that all visitors don't want to miss and one of the must-visit places is turquoise blue lake Lake Tekapo. About a three-hour drive southwest of Christchurch, the lake locates in the heart of the South Island and is pretty well-known for its mountain views and crystal clear blue water. It was a magical moment when we saw the lake. The amazing colors of the lake against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks were absolutely most picturesque. It's truly a natural beauty.
There are many scenic lookouts on the way that are worth stopping for photography
Tekapo covers an area of 83 square kilometers and is located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. In addition, surrounded by stunning mountain ranges and a charming little church on the shore, the lake has become the most attractive destination in the spectacular South Island. Most of the tourists coming here want to take photographs of the scenery of the blue lake & the famous Church of Good Sheperd. Especially, the brilliant colors of Lupins flowers during Nov and Dec have attracted a number of visitors every year.
The Good Shepherd Church is the most photographed building in New Zealand
Many parts of the South island are truly great places for Stargazing so this is another interesting thing to experience in Tekapo. My friend and I didn't plan well to find a good spot in the area to watch it on the night we stayed near here. It was really quiet and dark and we were actually scared to stay late so we decided to get back the AirBnB early.
We almost booked AirBnB when traveling in New Zealand. The host was very friendly welcoming and lovely. It's a nice comfortable house with a beautiful garden.
Those photos do no justice to being in the actual environment, honestly. I highly recommend you to visit Lake Tekapo if you're planning to travel to New Zealand soon. You will just be more than surprised and incredibly excited when you are there in person. The journey to the South of NZ is the most unforgettable memory.
Goodbye Lake Tekapo, we continued our drive to Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park

I was half expecting pictures of you on top of the mountains from the Lord of the Rings movies😄
Still, these pictures are amazing. They do make me want to visit there. I bet the sunrises and sunsets were spectacular!
Anyways my favorite content creator who brought me to steem/hive through his promoting of it, lives in NZ. @theouterlight has a really cool show on Hive.
What a pity. I missed that part. I visited The Hobbit Movie Set but did not climb to the mountain of the Lord.
I'm pretty sure the sunrises and sunsets here would be stunning. Nz is amazing.
OH I see, Nice to see a New Zealander on Hive. I will check his show :) Thank you 🙂😉
I love his accent.
So you didn't see the sunrises or sunsets while you were there?🤔
I like Kiwi accent too :)
Oh were you party girl instead in NZ and not sunrise sunset girl? Or just day trip. I didn't think you were so close if so.
I'm not a party person. Yea day trip and work 😅😀😄
Even I travelled quite a lot from The North to The South but I think I missed many things in NZ.
That's why I plan to come back in the future 😊😉
What a beautiful place. Thanks for highlighting it!
Thank you Sara 😍🥰

I wonder if we will ever get to travel to a beautiful place like that any longer. The US certainly has nice places but there’s something different about that place you can’t find anywhere else! Looks like a beautiful spot indeed, too bad you didn’t get a chance to see the stars that evening! I’m sure the stargazing is incredible there!
The host family sounds like they were really nice, love when there’s plenty of kind people around!
What a mistake. I didn't have a chance to see the stargazing. Some of my friends show me it and extremely spectacular. I hope the current situation ends soon so we can travel to a beautiful place like this. I would love to visit the US when possible🙂.
NZ is amazing and the people are friendly. I love everything there and will definitely come back.
Thank you for checking this out and commenting, very much appreciated it.
I hope you have a wonderful week :))
That's really beautiful place, look very cool.
Thank you @sreypov 🥰, Lake Tekapo is a must-visit destination when in NZ. :))
