My first few months living in Italy were not that easy. Imagine moving here alone with no friends at all. So as I ventured on my journey here, I was able to meet good friends. I have these two friends, whom I met a few months after my arrival here. We shared the same interest in life, and that made us bond together. One day, we got invited by another group of friends to visit the Hundred Fountains in Tivoli, near Rome. We accepted their invitation since that was also our first travel together, and we’ve been dreaming of more travels together. Let me take you directly to one of the biggest fountains we saw there. It is called the Neptune Fountain.
Neptune Fountain is located in the gardens of Villa d’Este. It was really an amazing sight! Take a look at the fountain. As you can see, at the center of the fountain is the statue of a god called Neptune. According to ancient Roman myth, Neptune was the god of the sea. Yes you read it right. Maybe you were thinking of Poseidon. Well, Poseidon is also the god of the sea, but that was in Greek mythology. Going back to the fountain, if you get a chance to have a closer look, the statue is holding his weapon (the trident), and around him the water sprays out making it really cool.
Another fountain you will find there is the Oval Fountain. From the name itself, the fountain shape is like an oval. The water in the fountain flows down gently from the top, so if you are closer to it, you may hear the soft and relaxing sound it produces. The surrounding area of the fountain is also filled with beautiful gardens. So when you visit Tivoli, check it out and take a moment to appreciate its beauty.
Actually, there were many fountains there to shoot but I don’t know why I went home with only a few photos taken. Among those fountains, this tiny waterfall is the only one potable for drinking.
Lastly, the gardens of Villa d’Este. As you enter the gardens, you will be surrounded by tall trees that provide shade if it is sunny. There were also nice pathways that you could take for walks. It was a magical experience to be there, as we spent our time relaxing and hearing the soothing sounds of the water from the fountains.
