Escaping from the modern world for six days, in Manastir village, Rhodope

in Worldmappin3 years ago (edited)

Good day everyone,
Today, I will tell you the story of a beautiful and charming little village in Rhodope mountain.

Manastir village - the highest altitude populated area in Bulgaria, 1500 m. above sea level.

Here's how I got here. The year was 2017, I learned about an initiative to spend 6 days in the village, helping the locals in their everyday work and in the process to get to know their way of life and culture. I thought the idea is very interesting and decided to participate.
When I arrived there the first day, I was immediately captivated by the beauty of nature, took out the camera, and started shooting right away 😎

The group I was traveling with was comprised of 6 people from different corners of Bulgaria. We took a short walk around the village to meet some of the local people.

On the second day, we gathered firewood for a local family and hay for the livestock.

The third day, we helped freshen up the local library and museum - changing the windows, painting the walls, cleaning and arranging. We finished by early afternoon and the lady managing the library surprised us with homemade local dishes. The rest of the day we spent exploring the area.

The fourth day we visited another close-by village - Dryanovo. There we еnjoyed the local singing group and more of the local food specialties : ) I took some nice photos of the beautiful nature.

On the fifth day, we learned how to cook some local dishes and homemade butter.

The last day was a very special day for Manastir. It was a "family reunion" day for the whole village. Once a year everyone connected to this place gathers and celebrates. On this day the quiet village becomes very lively. Everyone is excited to meet their relatives who sometimes come from far away.

We had to leave the next day, but I couldn't stay away for long. I came back two weeks later. The locals were happy to see me and we became closer. I still keep going back there.

Hi there @tihuana welcome to Hive and great to see you post your second post from the haveyoubeenhere and pinmapple community. That looks like a lovely experience to spend time with the villagers and learn about their culture and food, no wonder you keep on going back.

Please note our main community rule is that all travel posts must be pinned on pinmapple, https://pinmapple.com/ as stated on the community page otherwise we can't curate it, no matter how good it is. In order to get your post on Pinmapple, just click on the 'get code' at the top of the map and follow the instructions or check out the FAQ to get your post on the map. I look forward to more great travel content from you.

And one last thing, would you be able to verify your other accounts by adding your Hive web link to any one of them? We get a lot of imposters on Hive who monetise other people's work so this is done to protect yourself and to save future misunderstanding. I hope you won't be offended by this request as it will come up sooner or later anyway, so it's better that you get it out of the way earlier on. Once you have done it, you can update it here https://hivewatchers.com/verifications/new. Thanks

Hello @livinguktaiwan. Thank you very much for letting me know about this.
To be honest, I was not sure how to that and it seems I was not very successfull. I updated with links to pinmapple for the two places I mention in the post but but they are not clickable. I know I did something wrong but I don't know what 😅. I apologize if I am asking too much, but can you give me a hint how to make it work?
For the verification - I followed the link you provided and submitted a post on my Facebook account with a link to my PeakD profile.

Apologies for the delay in responding @tihuana. You have a comment from both pinmapple and hivewatchers now, so both are done!! Hivewatchers are the main community group that deals with abuse on Hive, normally they only comment on posts when abuse is detected, so this is probably the only message you want to receive from them!!!

Going forward, when you make travel posts just post them directly from Peakd into the haveyoubeenhere community like you did for this post and remember it to pinmapple. If its great content, which I'm sure it will be, there should be no problem with curation. Posting it via Peakd directly from our community will get you the most exposure and support.

Also, if you do any photography posts, you can post them from the photography communities such as https://peakd.com/c/hive-194913/created or https://peakd.com/c/hive-181964/created.

Last and not the least, this might come in handy
