Hello, dear Hive community,
We hope you are all doing well. Yesterday evening we decided that we would like to visit the Krn mountain at 2044 m once again.
It has been almost 2 years since Steffen visit the top of the mountain the last time. In the evening, we collected all necessary equipment and checked the weather. Sun and clouds were promising, so let's hope for the best.
We set the alarm a 5 o'clock in the morning so we could escape hiking in the heat of the day and groups of other hikers. On the way back, we saw a lot of people starting at 12 or even at 13, when the heat starts to be at its peak. Crazy as so many people decide to suffer and struggle up.
After the early morning kick a.k.a. coffee, we stopped at the parting lodge (costs: 1 euro per hour for parking). It's not much, but since hiking to the top takes hours, it quickly adds up. Since we are locals we really don't appreciate the parking price, in the past we parked here once a week...
We went slowly and steady higher and higher from around 1200 m. The way was pretty empty, no hikers, and temperatures were rather cool.
We were very impressed with gorgeous grass fields, which were so rich in flowers of all kinds, shapes and colors. There were also cows and sheep feasting on them. And we forgot to mention the early morning dear and birds that crossed our way.
Once we reached the top, it was actually unexpectedly cold (we were not dressed for so cold weather, the fog is always freezing). There was even snow in this height. We enjoyed the view from the peak of the mountain and the amazing cloud formations. After taking pictures, we felt like having some breakfast and the day before prepared sandwich were just perfect.
We found shelter from the cold morning in the Krn mountain hut. Where we met some other hiker telling us about their experience and path. Amazingly, one girl was starting already at 2 o'clock in the morning (from Slovenian cost) and took a way bigger round, but reached approximately the same time as us.
Walking back home was easy as we were caring light luggage and were filled with good energy! On certain areas we were even running as it was a lit of fun.
Thank you for reading. Wish you a nice day!
Awesome pictures! I really love the first one!
Thank you bro. It was a incredibly beautiful morning. We where very surprised by this cloud formation too.
What a nice contrast between the tones of the sky and the mounts, no doubt it is a perfect composition.
:)
We agree it's like a reflection. Cloud like mountain in the sky and mountains on earth. It was really cool and we never had a experience like this. It was beautiful.
