Spreading Hive love on Seafield beach in Scotland
Hello Hello Hivians
Today (well it was actually Saturday) we are going for a walk all over Seafield beach in Kirkcaldy.
It might be the first time that some of you will experience the Scottish phenomenon of haar. More on that when we encounter it!
In the meantime though, back to our walk! So we started at the Teal Burn and I was amazed how the weather has changed the course of this stream of water and now it has created a mini reservoir at the top of the beach that the young seagulls enjoy!
The tide was out and I was not sure if it had turned or not, time would tell once we got on the beach.
You can just see the edge of the Teal burn as it hits the sea on the top left of this picture.
The beach is actually part of the Fife coastal path so there is a great path up above the beach and in the grass dunes. We were going to go through some wasteland to reach the jump down that I wanted to take to get onto the beach.
At this time of year though it is a great place to walk as you can pick a delicious and natural breakfast!
I mean just look at these...
Yes they were as juicy as tasty as they looked!
It gave us a wee natural energy boost and off we went.
No sooner had we started when Mrs T spotted this wee beauty ....
A Peacock butterfly and it was gorgeous. I tell you nature is quite wonderful. I normally never get butterflies on film but this one flew down and waited long enough for me to capture him before flying away again.
We followed the butterfly down to the beach and it was me now who was snapping pictures left right and centre!
The weather was so nice that I started to have some fun with my foot!
Now some of you who read my post think I may I have a problem with Hive and that I love negativity.
How far from the truth is that!
I love Hive, I mean look at me on a Saturday morning writing this on a fluffing beach!
Yes I love Hive, it is some of the people and the antics that go on that I was ranting at. I mean us plebs get told do this that and the other, meanwhile top witnesses vote their own posts 100% hmm enough said....
Here we go, I love Hive!
I wrote INLEO about thirty minutes before I wrote HIVE
You might notice the difference in the weather.
This is the phenomenon that we call haar
BEFORE HAAR
and now ....
AFTER HAAR
What the fluff is haar?
A cold fog or mist that comes in from the North Sea in Scotland and the North East of England.
When we started our walk it was tshirt weather but then the haar rolled in and it got a wee bit chilly.
It didn't stop the dogs having fun.
It was hard to see them, I think she was a dog walker as she let the pups do their business before she let them off their leads...
The good thing was that the sun was up there, trying to shine bright!
You can see the golden orbs reflection in the rock pool water.
Part of the joy going to the beach at low tide apart from looking into the rock pools is seeing if any interesting pottery shards or mermaid tears have got stuck in the rocks.
Have you heard of mermaid tears?
Here in Scottish folklore we call the sea glass that is washed up on beaches as mermaid tears.
Today though we were really after pottery shards and I would say this was the best find of the day...
It was a beauty and the sun was winning!
But enough with this, we are now on the mission for Mrs T...
It was lunch time, I had brought us a sandwich and a chittery bite so we spied a suitable bench!
Lunch with a view!
Then it was more beachcombing before heading home for tea!
There are picnic tables up top in the grassy area ..
.. but I prefer sitting on the beach!
So long Seafield beach see you soon!

I swear I just wonder how you do it. Just so bright and find every reason to be content in the momemnt. I am still learning and I take it one step at a time. How lovely. That moment where you two just sat to have a sandwich... I love both of you and your lifestyles.
Well the animals taught us many things, and one is living in the now.
One day we won't have a tomorrow so enjoy each day. Life is too short to be a grumpy shit and not enjoy those whom you care about.
Awwww. Such a cute bun you🥺
It's crazy just how much the ocean moves sometimes. I haven't been to the ocean in what seems like forever, but I would like to get back one day. As impressive as the Great Lakes are here, they still aren't the ocean. Lunch looks fantastic!
hehe and I would like to see the Great Lakes one day. All bodies of water to me are magnificent, but I am biased to the sea and oceans!
The Great Lakes are quite awesome. I hope you do get to visit one day!
Nice one Mr. Scotland - I did a similar one when i been young and the chain was called Steemit - all on Black Seach beach not far away from Split :-) - have to dig out the photo - must be somewhere on the chain but we are not perfect for searching still :-)
Ah yes, I bypassed that chain 🤣.
How are you Uwe, did you goto Split?
And the searching, yeah that is not the easiest!
Nice excursion! Great photos. Along with music, I find the ocean to be one of life's soul salves.
Yes it was fun one! I have always lived close to the sea in all the countries I have lived in. I agree, music and the ocean really do wonders!
You really enjoy life. And I loved those images of the fog and the dog walker.
Nice that pottery shard! Do you have a collection?
Yeah the fog is cool, I have loads and I might make a fog post hehe!
The pottery shards, yeah there is a few!
Berries, a colourful butterfly, haar or those cool fogs and then the tasty looking sandwich, all are beautiful views and I'm sure the camera is your new phone.
I know you love Hive, but for the high and the mighty? I certainly have my reservations.
A beautiful post TG😁
Hehe yes you can say that I love my new phone Edith, it takes some cracking pictures and videos. I loved seeing the butterfly!
Ah yes the reservations, well we carry on with our friends who we engage with :)

Pretty cool! Nice shots of the beach and nature. Even wild berries! I love collecting sea glass, the pottery shard was really cool. Looks like a great day in Scotland for the beach. Until the fog rolled in anyway!
Ah yes the berries were delicious. I love this time of year the blackberries are awesome!
The cool thing is the fog rolled in then the sun did ceom through and burn it off!
nice view while having your lunch out there..
it's my first time knowing bout haar.. makes the place too foggy...
saw those stones.. I guess mipiano would love to collect stones and mermaid tears there haha...
Nature is nature, the haar comes in then the sun burns it off.
Ah yes mipiano and I have talked about beachcombing and collecting seaglass before.
