Rainy Krakow - bad weather can be beautiful 🌧️

As the name suggests, I invite you to take a walk through rainy Krakow. I moved on foot with an umbrella, but when I got caught in heavy rain (it rained really hard at times), I had to hide somewhere. I don't have many photos, but I will share this expedition. Horses accompanied me on the expedition, I met them three or even four times by accident.

Jak nazwa wskazuje zapraszam na spacer po deszczowym Krakowie. Poruszałem się pieszo z parasole, ale gdy dopadł mnie duży deszcz, (chwilami padało naprawdę bardzo), trzeba było się gdzieś chować. Zdjęć nie mam zbyt dużo, ale podzielę się tą wyprawą. W wyprawie towarzyszyły mi konie, jakoś tak przypadkiem spotkałem je trzy albo nawet czterokrotnie.

Krakow is a unique city in my country. The city that was the capital of Poland from the end of the 10th century to 1596 (the current capital of Poland is Warsaw), being the main cultural and scientific center, but above all the place of central politics of those times. Today, rich in historical monuments, it remains a symbol of Polish heritage and history, there are many beautiful historic buildings, traditions, legends.

Kraków to wyjątkowe miasto w moim kraju. Miasto, które było stolicą Polski od końca X wieku do roku 1596 (aktualną stolicą polski jest Warszawa), będąc głównym ośrodkiem kulturalnym i naukowym, ale przede wszystkim miejscem centralnej polityki ówczesnych czasów. Dzisiaj bogate w historyczne zabytki pozostaje symbolem polskiego dziedzictwa i historii, jest tu wiele pięknych zabytkowych budowli, tradycji, legend.

I will mainly present the Boulevards (marked on the map with a red line), which have picturesque riverside walking areas stretching along the left bank of the Vistula, from Wawel to Dębnicki Bridge. They are a popular place for recreation and relaxation, offering beautiful views of the river and Wawel Castle. These boulevards are ideal for walking, running, cycling, and there are also outdoor events in the area. The place is very popular both among residents who want a bit of a windy breeze from the river on hot days, and tourists visiting Wawel.

Zaprezentuję głównie Bulwary (zaznaczone na mapie czerwoną kreską), które mają malownicze nadbrzeżne tereny spacerowe rozciągające się wzdłuż lewego brzegu Wisły, od Wawelu aż po most Dębnicki. Są one popularnym miejscem rekreacji i wypoczynku, oferując piękne widoki na rzekę oraz zamek Wawelski. Bulwary te są idealnym miejscem na spacery, bieganie, jazdę na rowerze, zdarzają się też w okolicy wydarzenia plenerowe. Miejsce cieszy się dużą popularnością zarówno wśród mieszkańców, którzy chcą trochę wietrznej bryzy z rzeki w gorące dni, jak i turystów odwiedzających Wawel.

As I mentioned, heading towards the Vistula River, I met the same pair of horses and a carriage several times. In the photos below, you will see the same horses in different places.

Podążając pod rzekę Wisłę, jak już wspomniałem spotkałem kilkukrotnie tą samą parę koni z karetą. Na poniższych zdjęciach zobaczycie te same konie w różnych miejscach.

Horses and carriages played an important role in the history of Krakow, especially when the city was the capital of Poland. During the Renaissance and Baroque, carriages were a symbol of wealth and prestige, used by the aristocracy, clergy and rulers during ceremonial rides and ceremonies, but also for everyday life. To this day, horse-drawn carriages are a popular tourist attraction in Krakow, offering romantic rides around the Old Town and around Wawel. One of the tourists asked the driver next to me how much the ride cost, apparently around 500 złoty, or about $120 (if this price is true, it's a lot of money).

Konie i karety odgrywały istotną rolę w historii Krakowa, szczególnie w czasach, gdy miasto pełniło funkcję stolicy Polski. W okresie renesansu i baroku karety były symbolem bogactwa i prestiżu, używane przez arystokrację, duchowieństwo oraz władców podczas uroczystych przejazdów i ceremonii, ale także przemieszczając się w codziennym życiu. Do dziś dorożki konne są popularną atrakcją turystyczną w Krakowie, oferując romantyczne przejażdżki po Starym Mieście i w okolicach Wawelu. Jeden z turystów pytał się woźnicy przy mnie, ile przejazd kosztuje, podobno około 500złotych, czyli jakieś 120$ (jeżeli ta cena jest prawdziwa, to jest to sporo pieniędzy).

Along the Vistula River, you can find many restaurants and bars in boats on the water. They also offer water-related attractions, mainly boat cruises.

Wzdłuż Wisły na wodzie można spotkać wiele restauracji i barów w łodziach. Oferują oni również atrakcje związane z wodą, głównie rejsy statkami.

I visited one of these places, quite cozy, the decor refers to the name "Vistula Garden". There are a lot of plants and flowers outside, but inside there is a lot of artificial (plastic) greenery.

Odwiedziłem jedno z takich miejsc, dość przytulne, wystrój nawiązuje do nazwy "Wiślany Ogród". Na zewnątrz jest dużo roślin i kwiatów, ale wewnątrz sporo to sztuczna (plastikowa) zieleń.

I tasted a glass of wine and was treated to a beautiful view of the river and Wawel. It was very windy, you could feel a slight sway. Probably because of the weather there were few people, I was practically alone, but after an hour when I left most of the tables were already occupied.

Skosztowałem lampkę wina i mogłem się uraczyć pięknym widokiem na rzekę oraz Wawel. Było bardzo wietrznie, dało się odczuć lekkie kołysanie. Chyba ze względu na pogodę było mało osób, byłem praktycznie sam, ale po godzinie gdy wychodziłem większość stolików już była zajęta.

I waited out the worst of the weather and as I continued walking, most of the rain clouds disappeared. As you head towards the castle, you can see a walk of fame with imprints of hands on the road. There are also various stalls with toys and souvenirs.

Przeczekałem najgorszą pogodę i idąc dalej, zniknęła większość deszczowych chmur. Podążając w stronę zamku na drodze można spotkać aleję sław z odciśniętymi dłoniami. Są też różne stragany z zabawkami, pamiątkami.

Under the castle you can meet the famous Krakow dragon. The legend of the Wawel Dragon tells the story of a monster that terrorized the inhabitants until the clever shoemaker Dratewka gave him a sheep filled with sulfur. After eating the sheep, the dragon drank so much water from the Vistula that it burst. The modern place associated with this legend is the dragon's cave, or the cave under Wawel, and the sculpture of the Wawel Dragon standing next to it, which should breathe fire, it used to, but it probably didn't feel like it today, or it doesn't do it anymore :D

Pod zamiem można spotkać słynnego Krakowskie smoka. Legenda o Smoku Wawelskim opowiada o potworze, który terroryzował mieszkańców, aż do momentu, gdy sprytny szewczyk Dratewka podłożył mu owcę wypełnioną siarką. Smok, po zjedzeniu owcy, wypił tyle wody z Wisły, że pękł. Współczesne miejsce związane z tą legendą to smocza jama, czyli jaskinia pod Wawelem, oraz stojąca obok niej rzeźba Smoka Wawelskiego, która powinien ziać ogniem, dawniej ział, ale akurat dzisiaj chyba mu się nie chciało, albo już tego nie robi :D

My short journey is coming to an end, but I still went somewhere, to a very HIVE-friendly place. On the way to Bisupia Street there are parks, lots of flowers and trees (including the huge and fallen ones).

Moja krótka podróż dobiega końca, ale jeszcze gdzieś się udałem, do miejsca bardzo przyjaznego HIVE. Po drodze na ul Bisupią są parki, dużo kwiatów i drzewa (również te ogromne i powalone).
