A special kind of feast

Hello dear diary,

Well, what shall I tell you today? While looking through my cell phone photos, I noticed that I've taken a lot of random pictures in the meantime. These wouldn't be worthwhile for individual posts and articles and wouldn't make any sense, but if you look at my random photo gallery from a higher perspective, I could record my food consumption here.

Of course, one of the fantastic things about Thailand is the food. Especially on Koh Phangan it's special again... Because you really get everything here. Oh my, how often I eat mashed potatoes here or order them spontaneously. There's hardly any difference in price whether I make the effort and cook myself or quickly use the Koh Phangan delivery app.

My diary entry today is intended to give you an impression of how pleasant it is to get various cultural dishes here, plus a few impressions of the surroundings, which I also made randomly, in addition to a food report from almost two months (by God and I haven't photographed everything I've devoured for a long time). It's always nice to look at and if someone other than me reads this post carefully and visits the island, I think some recommendations can be helpful.

Unfortunately, you can't use the Grab app on Koh Phangan, which is otherwise very popular in Thailand and is similar to UBER in Europe.

Instead, there is the Delivery KPG app on the island. Which works great and is extremely helpful. Especially for lazy people like me.

Since you can't use the tomb here, it's advisable, as always in Thailand, to get your own vehicle, bike or other means of transportation, unless you do as the monks do and prefer walking. Although, I also walk a lot here. It saves you having to go to the gym or do endurance training and don't forget, I'm from Austria. Hahaha. A little running has never done any harm.

It's also hard to use the apps of well-known supermarket chains like Big C or Lotus here on the island. God is my witness, I have tried BUT there is no delivery service offered by them here (on the mainland it works fine!). You can choose your groceries online and have them delivered).

But this Delivery KPG app totally does the trick. And the island isn't that big either, everything is within easy reach.

But now my visual impressions and moments, starting with August 2, 2024. On this day, I had visited friends and acquaintances in Ban Tai, who were waiting for me at "coolscool". A beautiful alternative place for children and teenagers, which is characterized by Waldorf schools, Montessori and other alternative options.

Yup, deliveries with the Lazada app work perfectly. I can only warmly recommend it if you are staying a little longer in Thailand.

You can get everything there and, of course, at a cheaper price compared to Europe. There are also things here that are so spaced out in terms of the idea that I have never seen in Europe.

I order a lot of things there, including a fancy new electronic bike that looks like a Rolla. I called it Bumblebee, here in the pictures you can see me with bumblebee, but I had to stop laughing, because bumblebee, like the one and only, also had flaws and the battery was faulty from the start... Well, if you would like to have a contribution on this topic, please let me know in a comment. This Bumblelidaamble odyssey is like a comedy.

Ordered with the recommended delivery KPG app at Tito's, they're in the #food court in Thong Sala otherwise. Delicious pizzas at a fair price. Not sooo expensive or "baaaah" like other vendors around here.

Oh how sweet, that morning I went back to this coolscool in Ban Tai and was not only greeted warmly by my friends, no, also by the owners, who gave me a warm hug and immediately pressed a breakfast into my hands. Sweet, right? It was delicious too.

I spent a nice day or rather a few hours in pleasant company in one of my favorite cafés in Ban Tai. I've written about The coffee roaster before, I've spent many a day here. A very chilled place.
As you can see, it was Mensch ärgere dich nicht time.... I won!!!!

That day I felt like an acai bowl with peanut cream. Otherwise I really hadn't done much worth mentioning. The days are very relaxing here. Time becomes timeless.

Here is an impression of how to use this Delivery KPG app and what it looks like. You can also see the approximate costs. There were two of us that day, so it's all right. 890 baht is about 24 euros. That divided by 2 is 12 euros. But with all the trimmings! Drinks included and also the delivery fee.

Oh man, there was nothing to do with me that day. I was like the Grinch. A bit grumpy, if you can call it that. So I just went for a little walk around my neighborhood.

I got the drinks from Drink o'clock. Great value for money. About 50 baht per coffee and smoothie.

The Han Gree has Russian food and it's delicious and very similar to Austrian food. Sureooo, mashed potatoes are a must. The walnut cookies are filled with a caramelized milk cream. My favorite sweet treat.

So, wowow, lots to do at the moment. But that's good. But to make sure I don't completely lose my sense of time, I have to go out to eat with people and friends.

Here I had brunch with a good friend at Harris. The waffles were delicious.

I had them with berries and fruit. My friend had chocolate banana. I treated myself to a mixed berry smoothie and I was happy that day. Yup, you can be happy and satisfied that quickly. Fantastic, isn't it?

That day I had company and of course we decided to order something quick, this time a traditional Panang curry vegan style and.... How could it be otherwise... Mashed potatoes... Mashed potatoes always work and go with everything! In the evening we had a full moon. Unfortunately I couldn't capture the beauty of the full moon in all its glory, only these pathetic attempts came out.

Cool, isn't it? We wanted to order from "Lebanese Bites" in Thong Sala and it was worth it. Actually, 2 people can share 1 portion. Well, we had so much that we couldn't eat it in the evening and the day after. It was definitely worth it.

Today we went for a short bike ride. Nothing special. Just an old school ride through the area on our bikes and a break at the food court in Thong Sala. There's something for everyone here! I simply had a sandwich with scrambled eggs. It only cost 80 baht. Today was a really nice day. Simple, but fulfilling. The way back by bike was tiring though, which is why I put my feet up at home. Which they still are as I write this.

I hope that all readers of my diary have enjoyed the visual impressions and that some travelers have been able to draw something useful from them. Of course I look forward to your comments.

ein Festmahl der besonderen Art

Hallöchen liebes Tagebuch,

Na, was soll ich dir heute erzählen? Beim durchsehen meiner Handyfotos istt mir aufgefallen, dass ich echt viele random Bilder zwischenzeitlich gemacht habe. Diese würden sich für einzelne Posts und Beiträge gar nicht lohnen und keinen Sinn ergeben, doch betrachtet man meine random Fotogalerie aus einer höheren Perspektive, könnte ich meinen Fresskonsum mal hier festhalten.

Das was natürlich fantastisch ist in Thailand ist mitunter das Essen. Grad aif Koh Phangan ist es nochmal speziell... Denn du bekommst hier echt alles. Ach herrje, wie oft ich Kartoffelbrei hier esse oder spontan bestelle. Preislich kaum ein Unterschied ob ich mir den Aufwand alleine gebe und selber koche oder schnell die Koh Phangan Liefer App zu nutze mache.

Mein heutiger Tagebuch Eintrag soll neben ein Fressbericht von knapp zwei Monaten (bei Gott und ich habe lange noch nicht alles fotografiert was ich verschlungen habe) auch mal ein Eindruck geben, wie angenehm es hier ist diverse kulturelle Speisen zu bekommen, plus ein paar Umgebungseindrücke, welche ich ebenso randomly gemacht hatte. Schön anzusehen ist es allemal und wenn mal ein anderer Leser ausser ich diesen Beitrag genau liest und die Insel besucht kann manch eine Empfehlung hilfreich sein, denke ich mal.

Auf Koh Phangan kann man leider die Grab App nicht nutzen, welche sonst in Thailand sehr stark verbreitet ist und sowas ähnliches wie UBER in Europa darstellt.

Dafür gibt es auf der Insel die Delivery KPG App, welche super funktioniert und extrem hilfreich ist. Grad für Faulis wie mich.

Dadurch das man Grab hier nicht nutzen kann, ist es wie immer in Thailand empfehlenswert sich ein eigenes Fahrzeug, Drahtesel oder anderes Fortbewegungsmittel zu holen, ausser man macht es den Mönchen gleich und bevorzugt das Laufen. Obwohl, ichh laufe hier auch sehr oft. So spart man sich das Gym bzw. Ausdauertraining und man darf ja net vergessen, i bi aus Österreich. Hahaha. Bisschen laufen hat noch nie geschadet.

Auch kann man hier auf der Insel schlecht die Apps der bekannten Supermarktketten wie Big C oder Lotus benutzen. Gott ist mein Zeuge, ich habe es versucht, ABER hier wird kein Lieferdienst von diesen angeboten (am Festland klappt das problemlos! Ihr könnt euch eure Einkäufe online aussuchen und liefern lassen!)

Aber dafür bringt es diese Delivery KPG App total. Und soooo gross ist die Insel auch nicht, man hat alles soweit erreichbar in unmittelbarer Nähe.

Doch nun meine visuellen Eindrücke und Momente, angefangen mit dem 2. August 2024. An diesem Tag hatte ich Freunde bzw. Bekannte in Ban Tai besucht, welche in der "coolscool" auf mich warteten. Ein schöner alternater Ort, für Kinder und Teenager, welcher von Waldorfschulen, Montessori und anderen alternativen Möglichkeiten geprägt ist.

Jup, Lieferungen mit der Lazada App funktionieren einwandfrei. Kann ich nur wärmstens empfehlen, wenn man ein bisschen länger in Thailand bleiben sollte.

Dort bekommt man alles und im Vergleich zu Europa natürlich zu einem anderen kostengünstigeren Preis. Auch gibt es hier Sachen, so abgespaced von der Idee, dass habe ich in Europa noch nie gesehen.

Dort bestelle ich seeehr viel u.a. auch so ein fancy neues elektronisches Fahrrad, was aussieht wie ein Rolla. Ich habe es Bumblebee genannt, hier auf den Bildern seht ihr mich mit bumblebee, doch das Lachen sollte mir noch vergehen, denn bumblebee hatte wie der einzig Wahre auch Macken und die Batterie war von Anfang an defekt... Naja, falls ihr zu diesem Thema mal einen Beitrag haben wollt, sagt es mir gerne in einem Kommentar. Diese Bumblelidaamble Odyssee gleicht einer Komödie.

Bestellt mit der empfohlenen Delivery KPG App bei Tito's, die sind im Food Court in Thong Sala zu finden sonst. Leckere Pizzen zu einem fairen Preis. Nicht sooo teuer oder "baaaah" wie andere Anbieter hier.

Ach wie lieb, an diesem Morgen war ich nochmal in dieser coolscool in Ban Tai und wurde nicht nur von meinen Bekannten freundlich begrüßt, nein, auch von den Inhabern, welche mich herzlich umarmten und gleich ein Frühstück in die Hände drückten. Süß oder? Lecker war es auch.

Ich verbrachte in angenehmer Gesellschaft einen schönen Tag bzw. einige Stunden in einem meiner Lieblingscafés in Ban Tai. The coffee roaster war schonmal berichtet worden von mir, hier verbringe ich schon manchen Tag. Sehr gechillter Ort.
Wie man sieht, es war Mensch ärgere dich nicht Zeit.... Ichh hab gewonnen!!!!

An diesem Tag war mir nach einer Acai Bowl mit Erdnuss creme. Sonst hattte ich echt nicht soooo viel erwähnenswertes gemacht. Die Tage sind sehr entspannend hier. Zeit wird zeitlos.

Hier mal ein Eindruck wie man diese Delivery KPG App benutzt und wie es dann aussieht. Auch kann man so die Kosten in etwa mal sehen. An dem Tag waren wir zu Zweit, also geht voll klar. 890 Baht sind ca. 24 Euro. Das geteilt durch 2 sind 12 Euro. Aber mit Allem drum und dran! Getränke schon mit drin und auch die Liefergebühr.

Au man, an dem Tag war mit mir nichts anzufangen. Ich war wie der Grinch. Etwas Miesepeterich, wenn man es so nennen kann. Daher unternahm ich lediglich einen kleinen Spaziergang in der Nähe von mir.

Die Tage hatte ich viel wieder zu tun. Ich nutze manch Café und Kaffee als Motivation um produktiver zu arbeiten. Hat geholfen.

Hier mal die Getränke und Speisen meiner Lieblingsrestaurants, welche ich mir regelmäßig liefern lasse.

Die Getränke habe ich von Drink o'clock. Super im Preisleistungsverhältnis. Zirka 50 Baht pro Kaffee und Smoothie.

Das Han Gree hat russische Speisen und die sind auper lecker und dem österreichischen sehr ähnlich. Klarooo, Kartoffelbrei muss sein. Die Walnusskekse sind gefüllt mit einer Karamelligen Milchcreme. Meine allerliebste Nascherei.

So, hui, viel zu tun im Moment. Aber gut so. Doch damit ich mwin zeitgefühl nicht gänzlich verliere muss ich mich auch mal zum Essen unter Leute und Bekannte begeben.

Hier hatte ich mit einer guten Freundin im Harris gebruncht. Die Waffeln waren mal mega lecker.

Ich hatte die mit Beeren und Früchten. Kumpelinchen hatte Schoko Banane. Ich gönnte mir noch einen mixed Berry Smoothie und glücklich war ich an dem Tag. Jup, so schnell kann man glücklich und zufrieden sein. Fantastisch oder?

An dem Tag hatte ich Gesellschaft und natürlich beschlossen wir mal schnell etwas zu bestellen, diesmal ein traditionelles Panang Curry vegan style und.... Wie kann es anders sein... Kartoffelbrei... Kartoffelbrei geht immer und passt zu allem! Abends hatten wor Vollmond. Leider konnte ich die Schönheit des vollen Mondes nicht in seiner ganzen Pracht einfangen, lediglich diese jämmerlichen Versuche kamen dabei raus.

Cool oder? Wir wollten mal bei "Lebanese Bites" in Thong Sala bestellen und es hat sich gelohnt. An sich können sich 2 Personen auchh 1 Portion teilen. Naja, wir hatten so viel, dass man noxh abends und am nach9Tag davon essen konnte. Gelohnt hat es sich allemal.

21. September 2024

Heute hatten wir eine kleine Radtour gemacht. Nichts besonderes. Einfach mal alte Schule durch die Gegend mit dem Drahtesel und ein Päuschen im Food Court in Thong Sala gemacht. Hier gibt es für jeden etwas! Ich nahm schlicht ein Sandwich mit Rührei. Es hat lediglich 80 Baht gekostet. Heut war ein echht schöner Tag. Einfach, aber erfüllend. Der Rückweg mit dem Radl war jedoch dann ermüdend, weshalb ich daheim die Beine hochgelegt habe. Was diese auch jetzt beim Schreiben immer noch sind.

Ich hoffe das allen Lesern meines Tagebuchs die visuellen Eindrücke gefallen haben und manch ein Reisender etwas nützliches draus ziehen konnte. Natürlich freue ich mich auf Kommentare.
