Hola.., On this occasion I want to tell the story of our journey to the western tip of Indonesia, namely at the zero kilometer point of Indonesia, and we visited the zero kilometer point monument of Indonesia. The Zero Kilometer Monument of Indonesia is a landmark located on Weh Island, precisely at the western tip of Indonesia in the city of Sabang, Aceh. This monument marks the westernmost point of the territory of Indonesia and is a very popular place for tourists who want to feel the sensation of being at the end of the country. The Zero Kilometer Monument of Indonesia not only offers stunning natural beauty, but also provides a unique and memorable experience as a starting point for a journey in this vast archipelago.
This Zero Kilometer Monument of Indonesia is located on Sabang Island, Aceh Province. which is precisely in Cot Damar Village Kilometer Zero, Sabang, Aceh, Indonesia. Geographically, this Zero Kilometer Monument is located at coordinates around 5 ° 54'10.6 "N (North Latitude) and 95 ° 12'53.0 "E (East Longitude), or you can search for the location point via https://worldmappin.com/ , with location code: [//]:# (!worldmappin 5.90645 lat 95.21685 long d3scr) , as seen in the image below..
This Zero Kilometer Monument of Indonesia can be accessed by land from the center of Sabang city. Tourists usually rent vehicles such as motorbikes or cars to explore this area. The route to Cot Damar offers beautiful natural scenery, including pristine beaches and tropical forests, surrounded by towering cliffs with the charm of a very beautiful sea, and we can enjoy all the natural panoramas during the trip. While the distance from Balohan Port to the monument is about 30 kilometers and can be reached in about 1-1.5 hours by land vehicle, we can rent a car or motorbike at Balohan Port or use a motorcycle taxi service. The journey to the monument will pass through a fairly winding road with beautiful views of the cliffs.
Around the monument there are various tourist facilities that have been improved, including parking areas, souvenir shops, culinary shops, coffee shops, and places to eat. This is done to improve visitor comfort and support the development of tourism in Sabang.
And there is also a prayer room around the monument, which is usually used as the first stopover for tourists who have just arrived.
Beside the prayer room, there is the only parking lot for tourists who come with a distance of 180 meters to the monument from the parking lot.
Here is the distance plan that is visible via google map:
Once we arrived at Bukit Damar, which is the location of the Zero Kilometer Monument, we parked the car in the parking lot next to the Cot Damar prayer room, then from the parking lot we walked to the monument, 180 meters from the parking lot.
During the 180 meter walking journey from the parking lot, we can enjoy the beautiful views of the cliffs, the coastline, and also the natural green forest along the way.
In addition, once you get close to the monument, there will be many traditional clothing stores, places selling typical Sabang culinary snacks, food stalls, coffee shops, and also places selling typical Sabang souvenirs, and all of the places are still traditional.
Along the walking path to the monument, there are many traditional trading places that make us keep looking left and right, pampering our eyes so that we are fascinated and stop at several shops to buy some collections.
The most favorite collection when visiting the Zero Kilometer Monument is a t-shirt that says “Zero Kilometer Indonesia” or “Pulau Sabang” and there are many other collections that have similar writing.
Well, about 10 meters from the row of traditional shops is where the Zero Kilo Meter Monument is located. Once you arrive at the monument, of course you won't forget to collect as many photos as possible as a souvenir of your visit to the monument. Of course, that's what every visitor who comes here will do.
You can take various selfie styles as a memento that you have visited this place.
The Zero Kilometer Monument of Indonesia has a design full of meaning and symbolism, reflecting the history, culture, and national identity of Indonesia. The main form of the monument is a tall and towering obelisk. An obelisk is a structure often used in monumental architecture to mark an important or historical place. In the context of the Zero Kilometer Monument, this obelisk symbolizes the starting point of all distance measurements in Indonesia. While the number "0 KM" on the monument clearly shows that this is the zero kilometer point, the place where all distance measurements in Indonesia begin. This also signifies Sabang as the western tip of the Indonesian archipelago.
At the top of the monument, there is the Garuda Pancasila symbol, the symbol of the Indonesian state. Garuda Pancasila symbolizes the strength, unity, and pride of the Indonesian nation. The placement of this symbol at the top of the monument shows that this monument is not only important geographically, but also has a deep symbolic meaning for all Indonesian people. Some parts of the monument are decorated with carvings and ornaments that reflect the richness of Indonesian culture and traditional art. This shows respect for the diverse cultural heritage throughout the archipelago, and this monument consists of several layers or levels that can be seen as symbols of the journey and development of the Indonesian nation from zero to a better future.
The Zero Kilometer Monument of Indonesia is not only a geographical marker, but also a monument that is full of historical meaning, symbolism, and deep philosophy. It reflects the journey, unity, and pride of the Indonesian nation from Sabang to Merauke. This is a little story of our visit to the Zero Kilometer Monument of Indonesia, hopefully our story can inspire you to want to visit the Zero Point of Indonesia.
