Stargazing at the Hollywood Walk of Fame

What are the incredible perks of being an internationally acclaimed movie celebrity, musician, or artist? Fame. Beauty. Honor. Fortune. Influence. What else?

What about engraving your footprints and handprints on a famous sidewalk with your name encased in a shining star? How’s that for being a sought-after public figure?

These were the interesting questions that lingered in my mind the moment I arrived at the spectacular Hollywood Boulevard in the American city of Los Angeles.

What a tremendous privilege to finally set foot here in Hollywood, the movie capital of the world!

I’ve always been fascinated by the realm of the arts such as the music industry, theater, motion pictures, movies, and films, not to mention banking to meet the super talented characters behind the scenes including their supportive crew. Although I’ve accidentally bumped into a few of them during unexpected encounters in the past, wouldn’t it be truly amazing to actually engage, talk, or dine with them up close and personal? Perhaps.

Did I meet them at the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Definitely not. But, one thing did happen for sure. I was able to see, touch, and visually capture with memorable photos their iconic footprints, handprints, and names immortalized on this magnificent tourist attraction.

For adventurous loyalists of the entertainment industry out there, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is basically a lengthy stretch of sidewalks covering several blocks along Hollywood Boulevard. These streetside pavements showcase the human-sized hands, feet, and stars of globally recognized personalities who have successfully made outstanding achievements in film, music, and the arts - catapulting their reputable names into stardom. In fact, I felt like a famous celebrity myself while walking along this prestigious avenue, lol.

Let’s take a closer peek at some of the legendary human marks of these celebrated superstars. As you can clearly see, they are also just normal people like us, sporting almost identical sized hands and feet. Unless they’re known to be giants or midgets, one can obviously witness the stark differences or similarities when comparing their recessed hands and feet on the concrete floor with actual human counterparts of people nearby. It was an absolutely eye-opening experience!

Moreover, some famous celebrities also had their screen names (or publicly known titles) embedded with a different colored floor tile, a metal star around them with a recognizable logo symbolizing the world of show business, music, or a related craft.

Despite the entertaining nature of this packed site, the surrounding atmosphere was likewise tense, stressful, and overwhelming. Why? Lots of enthusiastic tourists including myself were scrambling to photograph as many footprints, handprints, and stars of these iconic celebrities and be with their favorite personalities. The King of Pop for instance, was one of the most congregated spots in the entire Hollywood Walk of Fame. Who doesn't know Michael Jackson, the internationally renowned musical artist after all? Do you?

As I ventured further into the inner depths of Hollywood Boulevard, I noticed something peculiar about its defining architecture. The buildings also looked like movie sets, in my opinion! Pretty obvious for an entertaining and cinematic environment, right? Regardless of this design theme, these interesting landmarks fulfilled their various purposes, functioning as corporate offices, commercial establishments, stores, restaurants, and hotels to serve the ever-increasing influx of thriving tourists from around the planet. It was still a glamorous destination!
