This had to be a 10th birthday gift for my son, but we finally made it only when he is almost 11. Better later than never right? So after one canceled trip to Latvia (when they decided to close for quarantine) and all the arrangements with my working schedule we bought tickets to Milan, Bergamo airport for 3 nights.
We left snowy Vilnius at 6:55 AM on Friday.
We arrived to Milan early in the morning and took Terravision bus from Bergamo to Milano Centrale station. Round trip costs 13 Eur.
Our hotel was just around the corner of the station, but when we came they said that it is a bit too early and we can leave our bags, but our room will be ready in approximately 1 hour. So we left our bags and went to the city for 1 hour.
My son was impressed from the first moment as he has never used metro trains before and here we went by metro in the first hour of our trip. For 1 hour time we decided to visit Bosco Verticale. 2 residential buildings not so far from our hotel which are planted by trees. In the summer time they should look even more impressive, but even now they are an exceptional part of an architecture in Milan.
After Bosco verticale we came back to our hotel where our room was already prepared. We had some rest after the journey and later went to visit famous Cathedral of Milan - Duomo. It is absolutely the most known and famous building in Milan and I do not have a doubt why. It is actually so impressive.
And also there is a possibility to visit the roof of the cathedral. It is also worth the money spent and the view is jus stunning. You feel like a small ant on a huge building.
Last part of the day was dedicated for the contemporary art museum - Museo del Novecento, and dinner in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the most famous and luxurious shopping mall in Milan where all shops like Gucci, Prada, Versace, Ferrari are located.
Next day after breakfast in our hotel we left to visit Leonardo da Vinci house and vineyard. We went ourselves, just with an audioguide which we downloaded to the phone.
Second object had to be Leonardo Da Vinci painting "Last supper", bu the tickets were sold out till Tuesday so we did not get an opportunity to see it. We moved next to the "Sforza's Castle" and The Arc of Peace.
We also used one more method of transportation in Milan. It was a very old-school tram. My son loved that you need to press a red button to request it to stop in the next station.
Right after we tried the tram, we went to the famous San Siro stadium. Just took a picture from outside as we decided that 30 eur for the tour in an empty stadium for the adult and 23 eur for the kid is a bit too much and not worth.
And in the evening we went to Naviglio Grande - a canal between Milan and the Ticino River, the most charming and vibrant area of the city. It looks like there is a fair on both sides of the canal all year long. Romantic bridges remembered me Venice.
3rd and the last our day in Milan was dedicated to flamingos which we saw in Villa Invernizzi and the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci. We spent there almost 4 hours. It has so many attractions to offer, exposition is so big and impressive that time just flies there.
And we flew back with almost empty plane thinking that probably no one wants to go from Milan to cold Lithuania.
I think birthday present was very successful and worth waiting for my son.
Love you.
