One chilly morning in December, I embarked on a journey to the enigmatic Kishangarh Dumping Yard, a place that intrigued me ever since I heard about its unique existence.

The allure of witnessing heaps of marble waste, resembling a snowy landscape in the heart of Rajasthan (India), was too captivating to resist.

As I arrived at the site, I was immediately struck by the surreal sight before me. Stretching as far as the eye could see were mounds of white marble slurry, creating an otherworldly ambiance akin to a winter wonderland. This was no ordinary dumping ground; it was a testament to human innovation and environmental consciousness.

I learned that the origins of this marvel lay in the collaborative efforts of RICCO and the Kishangarh Marble Association, who faced the daunting task of disposing of vast quantities of marble waste. Instead of letting it burden the land or pollute the environment, they devised a revolutionary solution – transforming it into a visually stunning landscape.

Over the years, the dumping yard expanded, resembling a towering hill of gleaming white amidst the arid desert landscape. The completion of the second phase of the Dumping Yard in 2009 marked a significant milestone, a testament to the concerted efforts of the government and local associations. With over 200 tankers continuously depositing slurry, the project was a testament to human ingenuity in repurposing waste for the betterment of the environment.
