"Abetone is always a special place for me!"

Hello, my dearest friends!

Today, I want to make a post a little different from usual. I want to talk to you about a place that many of you probably know, but for me, it represents something truly special, because I often pass through this place when I’m heading back to my Emilia Romagna. It’s a pass that has always been very important in history and, for several years, has represented a renowned mountain and skiing destination in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. I’m talking about Abetone, which is located at about 1,300 meters above sea level, and it seems to be the highest mountain pass in Tuscany today.

One thing I discovered when I was here is that the name Abetone, as you might imagine and as I had actually imagined too, comes from the fact that there used to be a large fir tree here, which was cut down to make space for the road that passes through here. That’s where the name comes from.

I’m sharing some photos I took a while ago because it’s an area where you often find snow, and I go there to take some shots of the snow. But what I discovered the last time I was there was very interesting for me from an artistic point of view.

In fact, I didn’t know this, but nearby there is Via del Partigiano, a path that winds through the forest, where local artists have created wooden sculptures. As you can see from the photos, they are really well done. I was truly impressed by these sculptures. I’ve already seen similar things in other places, but these are really well crafted.

So, if you’re passing through this area, I highly recommend visiting this path, which I think is really worth it. Of course, it's nice to come here even in the summer, when it’s really hot in my Modena, and here you can start to breathe a little.

As I mentioned in the title, this place represents something truly special to me, but also something nostalgic because I know that when I pass through here, it’s to go home.

I hope you enjoyed this memory of mine and the photos I’ve shared, and thank you for reading this post. We’ll see each other soon. Until next time!

Awww those are really heartwarming pictures and I think it has something to do with the fact that the place is nostalgic.
