Hello everyone! It's been around 3 years since my last trip to this spectacular region of Hong Kong. It's just a 45 minute bus ride from where i currently live (Macau) asia's gambling hub. I have been to Hong Kong so many times, so it's nothing new to me, and it is nearby.
The picture above is the great harbor with its waters flowing from the pearl river delta. Hong Kong was a British colony, handed to the Chinese in 1997; Macau was also handed to the Chinese in 1999. Hong Kong's skyline is well known with it's bright lights, you can observe this wonderful view this from Tsim Tsa Shui. Light shows of the city can also be seen at 8PM.
While viewing the spectacular lightshow and skyline, I took a walk across the avenue of stars, and found the good old Bruce lee statue that moved to a new location near Starbucks.
Here is the biggest seated buddha statue in the world on Lantau Island. I counted the steps, it's something like 295 steps if I'm not mistaken. There are various ways to get here, either by bus or MTR. You can go by cable car from Tung Chung station, it's the fastest way, but more expensive ($160 HK dollars one way).
There are nice temples near the statue, just minutes' walk away. Nothing much to do here except see the statues, pay respects and wishes, use incense and donate.
View of the sea bridge (Hong Kong - Macau) from the cable car on the way back to Tung Chung station. Anyone arriving from Macau to Hong Kong by bus will arrive on Lantau Island, near the airport. So why not take a trip to see the buddha first? and that's what i did.
High rise buildings. The famous Bank of China building that i was always fond of.
A sailing boat for anyone wishing to take a tour around the harbour. $250 HKD for a ride.
Overall, i enjoyed being back here, it's been 3 years since i was back in Hong Kong. There's much to see and do here that i couldn't do in a single day's trip. Nevertheless, i did catch up with things; walk around Causeway Bay, go to Lan Kwai Fong, and most of all take in the scenery since i am more of an outdoor person.
Eat Ichiran at Causeway Bay too! a famous Japanese ramen restaurant.
wow, it such a great place, this place must be visited by everyone.
Yes, it's a beautiful city worth visiting.
