Meeting World Travellers: Next Meridian

in Worldmappin2 months ago

When we were travelling in our vintage Land Rover, we often found people willing to help us if something went wrong, or host us for a visit or lunch. When Nick and Matildhe, YouTubers that are travelling the world in their Defender camper, messaged us on Instagram, they asked if Jamie had the tools, space and the know how to change the front and rear springs.

I'm sure you guys know the answer to that!

It was really lovely to meet them after following their journey online for so long. They've traveled all across America and the South Americas and shopped the car to Australia to drive all around it! Now they are off to Tasmania. It's a pretty cool vehicle to do it in.

Nick and Matildhe are really lovely, enthusiastic folk. They are originally from France and speak four languages. Certainly world people! We supplied a lunch of cheeses and various vegetables and focaccia which they enjoyed and then it was onto doing the springs. Unfortunately Nick ordered two of the front springs but they'll return in a few weeks and get the springs shipped here so Jamie can do them here. They also did the brake pads. Nick was covered in grease by the end!

Their trip is mostly funded by Patreon members and they work hard on the way to create content for people to follow their journey. We really like their content as they are nice, authentic people.

Do you follow any YouTube travellers?

That is so freaking cool! I love reading about these kinds of people, doing life as they think it should be done <3 and it must be fun meeting them in person. I don't follow many Youtubers at all. I don't know if I'd like to follow a travel channel tbh. I got this idea I'd feel I have to do things in their footsteps sorta thing afterward. Maybe. I dunno. This is really sweet, though :)

Ja well we followedvas we liked the Defender, and we liked them too, so we got hooked. We have met a few on our travellers of course, some are awesome, some different to how they are on the channel!

That's awesome that you got to meet IRL and help two world travelers you have been following on YT. Of course, Jamie a.k.a. Mr. Land Rover can change those springs and break pads - no problem! What a question? 😆 I hope you had a good time and you'll be repeating it when they return. Are you guys on their YT now?

Well they filmed a bit, but we don't know if we will get on it, depends what their story is for the week!

I need to save up fast quit my job and live just like you guys do love it

Well we need to work to save as well. These guys earn money from YouTube but we only have faces for radio 😂

Haha 😅 don't be like that haha 🤣
You will be surprised if you try YouTube it might work very well for you guys.

Wow 4 years on the road, that sounds interesting, I am getting board of Kara and Nate. I will check them out.

Who's Kara and Nate?

You tubers who tried to travel around the world for a year. 6 years ago on 35k usd they had saved up. They started with a cheap camera but eventually you tube money and sponsorship rolled in and they are still going, Looks pretty exhausting though. I think I am more of a retirement travelers sort of guy.

4 Years on the road is the dream 😁 and being funded by their patreon members, isn't that so cool? Have they been to South East Asia?

That's next, after Australia! THey just got an air con in their van for that exact reason.
