Hello there! It's my 15th post in the new World Map Pin community! Trying to do the tag as well! If you haven't read about them, please take a look at this link.
As background, I have done a few overseas trips last year, as some of my friends here would know, and I have been wanting to share some of the interesting places that I have visited. However, life has been busy and I have been procrastinating penning these entries and recently, I revisited this target of mine and finally broke the inertia!
One of my memorable trips in 2023 was to Tokyo, Japan, and during that trip, I did quite a few day trips to nearby cities and towns. This included trips to Karuizawa, Atami, Nikko, Kamakura, of course, Tokyo itself.
In 2024, which was earlier this year, I was back at Japan once more. This time, it was to Osaka, Japan. After a trip to the surrouding places like Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe, we are back at Osaka itself!
As always, to everyone who is reading, thanks for all the positive comments of my previous post! It really amazed me how the Hive community and Worldmappin community were so encouraging with my travel sharings. And it meant a lot to me - whether it's in the form of comments, reblogs, or upvotes. Thanks for all the engagement and appreciation!
As readers would know, one of my favourite things to do when I visit a new city would be to visit an observatory so that I can get a bird's eye view of the entire city and even beyond! During my trip to Osaka, it was no different as well! There were a few options in the city, but the most convenient one based on our travel itinerary was the Umeda Sky Building! This was the model of the building, as you can see, the observatory is at the very top of the building and it is open air!
After buying the tickets, we went up and here we were! We went around late afternoon or early evening so in some of the photos, you can see the sun setting. The observatory is circular in shape and it was not very crowded thankfully.
Here's another angle of the observatory!
Interestingly, there was an area where lovers or perhaps friends can hang locks. Hehe. Why do people do that?
After admiring the observatory, it's time to take a look at the scenery! Isn't this sight amazing? I think having rivers within the city always adds a new dimension to the landscape. In Japan cities, there are usually no skyscrapers because the area is prone to earthquakes, so most buildings are of average height.
Moving over to the other, it's all city. Nothing fanciful here.
Among all the photos, I like this photo the most! This was because as we hung around for a while to admire the scenery, the sun was setting, and finally it fit into the frame of the photo! Hehe! By then there were lesser people too.
Good times have to end and this was the escalator that we took up to the observatory. And it's time to head down!
This was the view from within the escalator. Not sure if it's scary for those who have a fear of heights - I don't have though. Hehe.
That summed up my trip to the Umeda Sky Building! As always, I enjoy such observatory visits even though there were no special sightings or tall buildings within the Osaka city, it was still a good experience!
Have you been to Osaka or other rooftop observatories? Let me know in the comments if you have been here too, and what are your thoughts about this place?
Finally, thanks for reading my post in the community under World Map Pin! More to come I promise! :)
P.S. I have also tried to document my posts in one table so it's easy to reference too!

I have never considered the idea of going to an observatory in the heights, and the truth is that I was delighted to include it as part of the travel itinerary.
I don't understand the padlock thing either, who wants to tie someone down for that long? I prefer to let things flow.
Hehe I think most of the cities will have something similar for tourists and locals to visit. Hmm, I am not too sure about the padlock too, maybe it's just one activity for visitors to do and leave a memory. Hehe. Thanks for dropping by!
