In the last episode, I shared our visit to CCC to see Christmas Decorations. So we didn't miss the Gangarama Simamalaka temple in front of the CCC. I have passed this location plenty of times but never stopped by. This time as we had enough time to roam, we decided to stop by. Even though it was near to noon, the sky was clouded hence it was easy to spend time there.
Probably there is no one haven't seen or visited this place. So I am not going to explain anything in detail. Basically, it is a Buddhist temple located on Bere lake. Actually, it is a very iconic place. More than a religious and calm feeling, it gave me an artistic feeling here.
It was almost empty when we are entering. Only two families were inside so we got the best opportunity to take some good pictures there. At the entrance, we were welcomed by these two Pelicans. I spend a few seconds enjoying their fishing.
As the first thing, we went directly inside the Seema Malaka building and worshipped the Buddha's statue inside. The center Seemamalaka building is surrounded by Buddha statues of different architectures.
The busyness of the center of Colombo hasn't affected this place at all. The front lake view is super eye-catching and it forgets you that you are in Colombo until you see tall buildings :)
I have seen hundreds of photos of this place so I had no special interest to visit here, but this feeling can't be taken from photos. We didn't let to miss any part of the temple. I am glad that we didn't skip this place. Actually, I am very satisfied with this visit.
