History Comes Alive at Bangladesh Military Museum!

in Worldmappin5 days ago

I think it's a little weird but one of my favorite places to visit is the museum! It’s a great source for connecting with the past. Whenever I’m in a foreign country, I try to visit their museums, and that helps me to know and understand their history and culture from an authentic source. But this time, I’ve visited an unusual museum which is more unique in decoration than the rest of the museums! I’m talking about the Bangladesh Military Museum which is located in Agargao, Dhaka. The Bangladesh Army administers this museum and this is the reason why this place is so posh, shiny and well-maintained!

I was surprised to see their collection! This museum covers a huge area and each place is spectacular. In one line, this museum is mainly dedicated to the collection of Bangladesh’s military history, heritage and success stories along with the weapons from our war of independence. As this museum is made with high-tech technologies, it can easily grab the interest of tourists from the young generation.

I had heard about this place so many times and finally got the time to pay the visit. It was a perfect sunny day and as we started our journey on a weekend morning, there was no traffic jam at all! (which is very rare in Dhaka city). We bought our ticket for 100 Tk (per person) and entered the place.

The well-trimmed grass in the front yard and the well-maintained garden softly welcomed us. When we entered the museum, I was totally stunned by its view! This place gave off an aristocratic vibe from the start.

The museum was divided into six different sections and each floor focused on a part. For example, the ground floor covered Bangladesh's history (from ancient tines to the present). Then the second floor was for Bangladesh Army Gallery, Bangladesh Air Force gallery was on the 3rd floor and the UN Peacekeeping Gallery was on the 4th floor. The most beautiful section, the Bangladesh Navy Gallery, was in the basement.

The presentation of history is way more advanced than the traditional format found in most museums. For instance, they used interactive displays for each of the sections. Usually, we get to know about the displayed item from reading the description beside it. But here, with the written description, there were also audio and visual systems that explained the items more fascinatingly. And I have to say that the digital presentation quality was top-notch. It has the power to keep my attention for the whole time!

To me, the most fascinating part was the Navy Gallery in the basement. It was fully decorated with the underwater theme. The low blue light, sounds of submarines, and 3D underwater visuals created a surreal environment!

There was an actual model of a submarine that you could enter and get a detailed idea of how a submarine looks on the inside. They utilized space to its fullest potential, and every corner had something to serve!

The use of augmented reality, virtual reality, holograms and interactive displays makes the museum unique and interesting for all types of people!

In the museum area, there is a rooftop cafe offering the best view and the best snacks! We ordered shawarma and sub-sandwich and both of them were budget-friendly and delicious!

Beside the museum, there was another separate museum called “Toshakhana Jadughor”. This place is decorated with the gifts and awards received by the country’s important personnel.

Visiting the Military Museum was an exciting experience for me. It can be the best place for our young generation to learn and know about our history and war. And I can assure you that there is no way one can get bored! As audio-visual learning easily gets embedded in one’s core memory, your child will carry the history for a long period of time!

Honestly i love history, especially for the fact that it takes us back to know where the journey all started.

Yeah, that's the truth! And not only that, it also helps to realise how far we have evolved!
