Hello Hive Community.
I hope you all are fine. I am also fine here. I have been thinking of making a post in the worldmapping community for a long time but due to lack of time could not make a post. But today I got enough time to make a post on Suraj Taal. Suraj taal is a beautiful lake located in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh state of India. Here taal means lake. In the local language the word is used as tal so I have given that word to the title of the post as well. I will talk a lot about Suraj Taal in my post today, and also tell you what is the best time to visit Suraj Taal.
Suraj Lake is located on the highway from Manali to Leh. And if we know the distance from Manali to Suraj Lake then it is 140 km. Thus, 140 kilometers is not too much, so if there is a normal road, it can be reached in two hours. But the main reason why it is not possible here is the hilly area here. The roads here pass through the mountains so that in some places there is a steep climb and in some places there are winding roads. So at some point the water comes down from across the stream which flows from the road. At some places the roads are narrow due to all these reasons it takes at least 4 hours to reach Suraj Lake from Manali. It may take more than that but it will not take less time. Another thing I want to tell you is that this road passes between streams, due to which there is a lot of beauty here. Due to which one feels like standing even to observe this area.
Now let me talk a little about the geographical situation of Suraj Lake here. Suraj Lake is a beautiful lake situated at an altitude of 16000 feet above sea level. And if you look at Suraj Lake, this lake is at the forefront of the highest lake in India. If I talk about Suraj Lake, this lake is not a big lake in size. But the surrounding mountainous area makes this lake beautiful. Suraj Lake is located in the upper Himalayas in the Lahaul Valley. And also it lies below the Baralacha La Pass. which connects the regions of Lahaul and Ladakh.
As I told you above, Suraj Lake is small in that period. But the changing color of Suraj Lake is another reason of attraction for the tourists. Suraj Lake thus appears to be green in color but due to the surrounding environment and conditions, it also turns blue in color. Due to the two different colors this lake is also a reason of attraction for tourists. Suraj Lake is not big in size but the depth is high and the water of this lake remains stagnant most of the time. In winter, this lake turns into ice. Even in the photographs, rounds of snow can be seen in the mountainous area around the lake.
Looking at these photographs, one thing strikes me about this area. If you also look carefully, you will also understand. This area is quite barren. You will not see any trees or plants from here to far away. Another interesting thing I will tell you about Suraj Lake is that there are many myths associated with its name. The name "Suraj Tal" translates to "Sun God's Lake" in Hindi. Suraj Lake is considered sacred by the local people. The local people of this place consider the water of this lake as a divine body.
Suraj Lake has also gained more popularity due to the fact that it falls on the road from Manali to Leh. The number of people traveling from Manali to Leh by motorbike is very large. People who pass by here stop in front of this lake for photography and to enjoy the beauty of this area. Suraj Lake is a popular destination for adventure enthusiasts and especially for those interested in trekking, biking and photography.
The best time to visit Suraj Lake is between June to September. During this time the weather is relatively mild. The main reason is that the roads are open to reach this lake. In winter, when there is excessive snowfall, the roads here are closed. It is very important for the people who come here to be aware of this. The climate of this region is cool throughout the year. And even in summer the temperature often drops below 0°C. It is very cold and heavy snowfall is seen here in the winter months. During this time the temperature goes as low as -30°C.
The photographs that I have put here in this post were captured by me in the camera..
In today's post I have shared with you a lot of information about Suraj Taal with photographs.
