That's an interesting story and photos of Qingdao! I had no idea that there was a part of the land in China rented to Germans!?!
But it looks like WWI destroyed the 99-year renting contract before expiring date... 🙂

Yes, the war ended the lease prematurely apart for Hong Kong. Germany wasn't the only benefactor, I expanded it a little in this comment here if you're intrested
