There is a lake a bit far from here Lago Escondido in the province of Rio Negro near El Bolsón that has actually been hidden by the owner of the ranch a certain Joe Lewis, the 6th richest man in Britain.
Argentines cannot access the lake. They have made demonstrations, they have blocked the road with trucks and tractors and the only thing they have achieved is that the police evicted them in bad ways.
I go through km 2000 and I am approaching little by little to the end of the route. Or at least I can say that I have made more than half the journey.
Giant latifundios, between endless steppe, guanacos, sheep and the golden of the pastures.
I am doing the same journey that Che Guevara did with his friend Granados.
In a service station I tell them my story and they invite me to a coffee. I talk for a long time with the owners, ex-motorcyclists when they were young before having children.
All this section is full of posters with the memory, painful for a part of the Argentine population, of the war for the recovery of the Malvinas Islands.
I pass near the Altos del Rio Senger and I see the river on the side of Route 40. The town of Alto Río Senguer is located on the "Old" Trace of Route 40 and is the gateway to the forests and the mountain range of the Andes around Lake Fontana and Lake La Plata.
Night falls and I have no inhabited center to repair myself. So I pitch the tent and try to rest.
Hay un lago un poco lejos de acá Lago Escondido en la provincia de Rio Negro cerca de El Bolsón que ha sido realmente escondido por el propietario de la estancia un tal Joe Lewis, el 6to hombre más rico de Gran Bretaña.
Los argentinos no pueden acceder al lago. Han hecho manifestaciones, han bloqueado la ruta con camiones y tractores y lo único que han conseguido es que la policia los desalojara de malos modos.
Paso por el km 2000 ya me estoy acercando de a poco al final del recorrido. O al menos puedo decir de haber superado más de la mitad del trayecto.
Latifundios gigantes, entre estepa interminable, guanacos, ovejas y el dorado de los pastos.
Estoy haciendo el mismo recorido que hizo el Che Guevara con su amigo Granados.
En una estación de servicio les cuento mi historia y me invitan con un cafè. Hablo un buen rato con lod dueños, ex-motociclista cuando eran jóvenes antes de tener hijos.
Todo este tramo está lleno de carteles con el recuerdo, doloroso para una parte de la población argentina, de la guerra por la recuperación de las Islas Malvinas.
Paso cerca de los Altos del Rio Senger y veo el rio a la vera de la Ruta 40.
La localidad de Alto Río Senguer está situada sobre la "Vieja" Traza de la Ruta 40 y es el portal de acceso a los bosques y la cordillera de los Andes alrededor del Lago Fontana y el Lago La Plata.
Llega la noche y no tengo ningún centro habitado para repararme. De manera que armo la carpa y trato de descansar.
