Namaste 🙏
Hope you all are doing great!!!
It was another beautiful day out here in Himalayas and today I decided to take a walk around my village and show you guys the architecture of my village. I would like to show you guys some of the rarest houses that are left in my village and also the modern houses that are currently being built here.
So as usual, I am being super productive nowadays, and my days at my hometown are super relaxing, just like other days. I woke up early at around 6 AM and decided to go for a morning walk. It’s been a cloudy week, so far and always seen this week are dramatic shapes of clouds.
The sun was slowly rising behind the clouds and the horizon was getting coloured in sunrise colours. They were still lights lighting up in the hydroelectric project next to my house. This hydroelectric project is situated on the other side of the Baragran Nala and is 5 MW. It’s really small hydroelectric plant, but it works really efficiently all the time. You can notice the boundary wall. They have built around the river to prevent the flood from getting in. This one time, a couple years back, the flood came and almost destroyed this hydroelectric plant and to save themselves. They started building this boundary ball, the very next year, and now that it’s completed the project is safe.
The west side of the mountains were looking really dramatic with dark clouds and no signs of sky. This idea is free of light pollution and we usually see stars around this side only other three sides are highly light polluted.
In this photograph, you can see my house with the river bed and also the hydroelectric project I was talking about. It was around 6:30 AM I started my walk.
There is still snow on the top of the mountains as you can see in the photograph and snow is also predicted for tomorrow, and I cannot wait to see the snow falling in my village. It’s really a cold mornin nowadays, and I had to really cover up myself to go on a walk.
This is my house and we are renovating our old house. It’s like a fusion of old and new house architecture. We are keeping our old house and renovating it because the olden houses are made out of mud and wood. So it retains heat much better. These houses are colder in summers and warmer in winters, so there is no use in destroying the old house and making new one in place of it. Many people are regretting breaking their old house and making new one out of concrete in place of their old house.
So I started my journey from my house and the house. Very next to my house is also older one. I will try to show you the maximum types of houses that are available in my village, and this is one of the I would say the middle ones.
My house is a bit outskirts from the village and to reach the main village, it takes around 5-10 minutes. From the village, the snowy mountains are more clear, and you can see them fully covered in their full glory from there.
There are many houses in my village. The name of my village is Baragran, and that literally means a big village. This village has been covered up in an area of around 5 km and it’s really difficult to cross cover it all, so I am just covering one portion of it and trying to show you guys the kind of architecture this village has.
Most people here are dependent on agriculture and our self-sufficient. Most people don’t rely on any kind of external jobs or any sort of activities. The main activity here is agriculture and the main produce is Apple apart from that people also take part in tourism activities like hosting people and showing people around the Himalayas.
In the photograph, you can see the temple of the village. It is the centre part of the village where the village deity is sited. There is a ground in front of it and in that ground. All the main events of the village happens. There are many events that are continuously happening in the village like Village and Ganed etc. I have written about one of that kind of event in one of my last week’s blog. you can check that out in my profile.
From the village ground, there are many narrow streets that are not motorable. They are spreading across the village. This narrow streets cover the houses that are all around in the village.
Just above the village temple, there is one really old building I guess this is the oldest one in my village. That is the store of the temple. There is a ground right next to it also, and there are two grounds in total in my village.
In the photograph, you can see the oldest buildings of my village. It is about 500 years old and you can see that by the colour of the wood it has all the wood has turned black and it looks really mysterious. This house is being used as the store for the village Temple any situated right below it.
There is one other building on the backside of the temple that is dedicated the priest of the temple and caretaker of the temple. In short, the life of the village, people usually revolves around their work and the temple. People here are really religious and they believe in their deity a lot.
In the photograph, you can see the different kinds of houses in the village, and you can surely say that every house is other from the previous one. Unlike, many places in the world where all the houses are similar and need to be passed from government. In this village, you can build your own house and you can modify it according to your needs. So no two houses are same in this village.
In the photograph below, you can see the house that will completely by would and that house is the shop of the village and it has not opened yet. It will open after a couple hours.
People also have kept animals here and for rearing animals, they have stored grass in this fashion. That’s the life in the village. Let me know which house did you like the most in the comments.
That’s all for today.
That’s for passing by.
Peace ☮️
