Namaste š
Hope you are doing great!!!
While living in Landour, how could I miss one of the main attraction of this town, that is The Infinity Walk. Itās also known a The Infinity Loop or Chakkar in Hindi. It starts from the Landour Market and goes all the way to the highest point of this area, Lal Tibba and joins back again at the market offering some breathtaking views and peaceful moterable path for walking or exploring on a two wheeler.
Starting our journeyā
What a great day it was to go around this amazing town and do a round of infinite loop or the Chakkar as locals call it. Itās a perfectly maintained moterable path that goes around some of the Raj era buildings and army camps. There are a couple of churches too in this area and a cemetery where many British people are buried.
After walking for about 15 minutes from Landour market, we reached around the edge of the road from where we could see whole lower Landour and Mussoorie towns. The football ground on the outskirts of the town was looking magnificent from there.
A cross was also visible from there. It looked like it has been placed at the edge of the cliff. I believe that as there is cemetery in this area so this area could be the cemetery area. I wanted to explore it but as it was on the cliff, we just continued our journey to complete the full infinity loop.
Looking eastward, we saw an mesmerising view of the lower Himalayan hills and the sun was shining as bright as it could. The weather was super clear that day and we could easily see at a distance.
One thing that I didnāt like about this place was the mesh of wires hanging all around us. You can see these wires outside every house. If these wires would have been underground, this place would have looked much better.
I wondered how dangerous these wires could be if a pole falls on the house. Just imagine how much better this house would look if these wires wouldnāt have been there. Just imagine how it would be living in such house here. Itās a dream life!!! Thatās why Ruskin Bond has chosen this place as his permanent residence.
As this road has a continuous little slope for gaining elevation so it has been gripped by little cuts on the concrete so that the vehicles can pass through easily in slippery icy conditions and also in rainy weather.
Ruskin Bondās houseā
After a short while, we were somewhere near Ruskin Bondās house. We were trying to locate his house but couldnāt find it. It was somewhere above the road and we couldnāt get there as it was restricted to get inside. Due to his old age, he couldnāt meet many people. He just lives peacefully there and enjoys his life in this heaven.
There was a cell tower on the top of the hill between the jungle. It looked stunning with the sun shining in the background. This place was a perfect blend of nature with human civilisation with lush green forest on one side and colonial architecture buildings on the other side.
The perfect brunch placeā
Just after walking for a while we reached a highly theamed place. It first looked like a monastery at first to us and we kinda ignored it. But later we saw some tourists coming out of it and appreciating food they just had, then we realised that itās a restaurant!!!
From outside it had a Tibetan theme but from inside it was quite different. It still had Tibetan theme from inside but with a twist. It had more colours than rainbow and looked very vibrant.
It looked like we were inside of a monastery when we looked at the ceiling but it had a desi Bollywood style pictures on the wall that was mixing really well with the theme. Apart from that it had many other trippy things inside.
There was a board full of tissues that had thousands of tissues pasted on it saying good things about this place. In short, everything about this place was very different from a regular restaurant.
Even the tables had a different look to them! They contained some pictures and looked amazing. There were trippy Tibetan lights hanging from the ceiling and the overall vibe of this place was very warm and welcoming.
There were custom designed posters on the walls that were looking so nice. There were more show pieces in this restaurant than there are in a gift shop.
We were super hungry at this time as we didnāt had food since morning. We asked the staff to bring us some authentic Tibetan food thatās also good for first timers. He suggested us to try Thupka.
It was just amazing. It couldnāt be more perfect. We had the best brunch that we could in the best place we could ever find. We didnāt wanted to leave from here and kept on exploring this place for a couple hours. We also came to know that they had some theamed rooms above the restaurant. We saw one of those rooms and really liked it but as we had our Airbnb booked, we thought of booking this next time we visit here.
Thatās all for today!!!
Iāll continue the journey in next blog.
Peace ā®ļø
