A for Athens

A wonderful reunion with my cousin Johnny and his beautiful wife Flavia

My daughter Eden was in Athens to DJ at a wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel for the weekend of 21st and 22nd September and decided that since my cousin and his wife were in Athens at the same time she sent me an airticket to join her there after the wedding.

What an amazing experience to catch up with Johnny after many years.

A for Athens

We met them at their apartment on Kolonaki Square and I met Flavia for the first time. Eden had already been privileged to meet her in Plettenberg in the Cape when she was travelling in South Africa.

Seeing Johnny for the first time in many years

We also met other family, Flavia's son, her sister, Stelia and sister's daughter, Mila and were taken to a lovely Italian restaurant.

Eden and I both ate some delicious Sea Bream for dinner and then ended with a delicious ice-cream on the walk back home.

The next day we met with Johnny again and he took us to a beach called Dot where we lay on luxurious beach beds for about 30 mins and had a lovely swim in the sea.

Lovely warm clear water

There were some fish swimming around and unlike Cyprus where the fish would swim close by but then move away from you when you swam near them. At first they gave me quite a fright but then I realised they were just going to swim around me. I wondered if they were Garra rufa fish—also known as the Dr. Fish that nibble off dead skin. Anyway a little deeper into the water and they stayed away.

With Johnny and Eden at the Dot Beach Vibes restaurant

Here we ate some grilled chicken and a chicken salad with dips - tarama, eggplant dip and a cream cheese dip.

That evening we ate at their apartment - again delicious meat patties and greek roast potatoes with a salad.

Wednesday Eden and I took a slow walk and visited some of the quaint shops in the area, I had a long overdue haircut and we bought a few souvenirs.

Feeling good after a long walk

Wednesday evening we were taken to a roof top bar and Restaurant called A for Athens

WOW WOW WOW - what an incredible atmosphere and view.

Below the streets were buzzing with atmosphere and the view of the Acropolis was outstanding

With Johnnyand the beautiful girls, Eden and Flavia

What an incredibly special evening with the people I love. I am blessed beyond my wildest dreams.

The making of part of the Metro underground

Above a beautiful little church - with a view - no doubt

A memory I will cherish for all the days of my life. Thank you Eden, Johnny and Flavia for making this dream come true.
