At the end of the village, a roundabout just in front of the marina took me on a detour to this beach. A small road took me to an area where I could leave my car and start to walk around this whole area of ​​the beach. A large esplanade and a promenade took up a large part of it and invited me to take this tour through different interesting places that were different from each other. I decided to start at the foot of the beach and without further ado I went down to the shore where I could observe all the beauty of this beach. In the distance and with a little mist I could see the sister island, Tenerife. The sea foam hitting the many stones and the colour of the water caught my attention at this moment. In these coastal areas of the Canary Islands the continental shelf is not very deep because it was filled by the eruptions and this gives these waters a very special uniqueness. With little depth the colour of the sea has an intense turquoise blue tone at times and in different solar positions during the day.

Al finalizar la villa una rotonda justo enfrente del puerto deportivo me llevo por un desvío hasta esta playa. Una pequeña carretera me llevo a una zona donde poder dejar mi coche y empezar a recorrer toda esta zona de la playa. Una gran explana y un paseo marítimo ocupaba una gran parte e invitaba a hacer este recorrido por diferentes lugares interesantes y diferentes unos de otros. Decidí empezar a pie de playa y sin más me baje hasta la orilla donde pude observar toda la belleza de esta playa. A lo lejos y con un poco bruma se podía dibujar la isla hermana, Tenerife. La espuma del mar al chocar contra las muchas piedras y el color del agua captaron en este momento toda mi atención. En estas zonas costeras de las islas canarias la plataforma continental no es muy profunda debido a que fue rellenada por las erupciones y esto le da a estas aguas una singularidad muy especial. Con poca profundidad el color del mar tiene un tono azul turquesa intenso por momentos y posiciones solares durante el día.

In the middle of the sea passage and in a rocky area I discovered an underground passage next to the sea that would take me to one of the key points in the area. On top of a large rock was the brazier that at the time, during the Olympic Games in Mexico, housed the Olympic flame that shone on the island of La Gomera for a time. This area became a very visited place to remember but what is really spectacular is the rock and the landscape that can be seen from the top. Stairs and wooden walkways lead to the brazier that seems to preside over the whole place, the beach of La Cueva and the city of San Sebastian.

En medio del paso marítimo y en una zona de rocas descubrí un pasaje subterráneo pegado al mar que me llevaría a uno de los puntos clave de la zona. En lo alto de una gran roca se encontraba el pebetero que en su momento, Juegos Olímpicos de México, albergo la llama olímpica que lucio en la isla de la gomera por un tiempo. Esta zona se convirtió en un lugar muy visitado para el recuerdo pero lo realmente espectacular es la roca y el paisaje que desde lo más alto se puede observar. Unas escaleras y pasarelas de madera llevan hasta el pebetero que parece preside todo el lugar, la playa de la Cueva y la ciudad de San Sebastián.

This beach is known as Playa de la Cueva (Cave Beach) because of the many caves that are found in its cliffs. A larger cave opens up deep into the mountain and the place takes its name from it. I continued along the pass for a while to get into the sea. On a small breakwater I played with the rising and falling tides watching the waves break and form amazing patterns.

Esta playa es conocida por el nombre de Playa de la Cueva por las muchas grutas que se encuentran en sus acantilados. Una Cueva más grande se abre camino en lo profundo de la montaña y el lugar toma su nombre de ella. Seguí un rato por el paso para ya meterme de lleno en el mar. En un pequeño rompeolas jugué con las marea en sube y baja viendo como rompían las olas y formaban dibujos asombrosos.

Again and again I was mesmerized by the rolling waves and looking at the combination of foam, landscape, rocks and breakwater stopped me and I spent almost the whole afternoon on this beach.
